This beautiful short film takes us on a quest with skier Drew Petersen, who set out to ski the highest peaks in all 11 of the states that make up the Western U.S. They include Nevada, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, and Montana. In order to achieve his goal, Drew had to go to some great lengths, but as you'll see, those efforts were incredibly rewarding in so many ways.

Video: Exploring the Wild Owyhee Region of Oregon
Protecting public lands and wild outdoor spaces has been a hot topic in the outdoor industry and the U.S. government all year long, and while Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante have received the bulk of the attention, there are other places that need preservation too. In this clip, we travel to Oregon to visit Owyhee, a spectacular outdoor playground that is nearly the size of Yellowstone, and yet 95% of it remains unprotected and at risk to commercial development, including mining. This short documentary will introduce you to this extraordinary place and show you why it should be protected.
Video: The Last Darkness - Running the Owyhee Canyonlands of Oregon
In this video we join endurance athletes Jeff Browning and Jessie Haynes as they set off to complete the 170 mile trail through the Owyhee Canyonlands of Oregon in just four days time. That's 42.5 miles per day through some very remote and rugged wilderness for those keeping track at home. The short documentary takes us into the canyons with the two men, as they push themselves to the limit in this stunning landscape that look like quite an outdoor playground. The video is fantastic end-to-end, but it is worth it just to listen to Jeff and Jessie try to figure out their current pace at the very beginning of the film. It turns out, math is very hard when you're exhausted.
On the Road in Oregon
I first wrote about Oru Kayaks back in 2012, when the company launched its first foldable boat. Since that time, I've always been intrigued with how their kayaks performed out on the water, since they promise to give paddlers the speed and agility of a hardshell with the convenience of an inflatable. In a few days, I'll get a chance to find out for myself, as we'll be paddling a 47 mile (75 km) stretch of river in one. That means I should have some good stories to share when I get back next week.
In the meantime, I hope everyone has a great end of the week and has some good adventures of their own planned. Spring is here in the northern hemisphere, and its time to be outside and enjoying it. If you haven't taken advantage of the shift in seasons just yet, now is the time for sure.
When I get back, we'll get caught up on everything happening in the Himalaya. Considering how the season has gone so far, there should be plenty of interesting things to talk about.
Video: The Pacific Northwest in Timelapse
This two-minute clip takes us to America's Pacific Northwest to capture some of the stunning landscapes that exist there. Filmed mostly in Oregon and Washington, the video gives us a beautiful look at some of the snowcapped peaks, pristine mountain lakes, and thick forests that punctuate his part of the U.S., leaving us a little breathless along the way.

We'll wrap up the week with this fantastic five minute video that takes us to the Pacific Northwest in the U.S. for some stunning timelapse images of the landscapes found there. It took two years, and more than 10,000 photos to create this stunningly beautiful clip, but it is a great reminder of just how amazing our world truly is.

This is four minutes of incredible beauty that shouldn't be missed. A perfect way to wrap up the week.

Video: Destination: Desolation - Oregon
This beautiful short film comes our way courtesy of Desolation Supply Co., a new outdoor apparel company that has just introduced its first line of gear. Along with getting their new brand off the ground, the team behind the clothing is also introducing a line of videos to share there some of their favorite outdoor places. In this case, that is the Pacific Coastline of Oregon, and the wilderness that surrounds it.
Desolation's mission is to create high performance apparel that has limited impact on the environment. I've yet to try any of their products, but based on what I've seen so far, it looks like they have some interesting things to offer the outdoor community. They can also create a beautiful video as well. I think you're going to like wha you see here.

Video: Three Sister's Wilderness Timelapse
The Three Sisters Wilderness, located in the Cascade Mountain Range in Oregon, is named for the three distinct volcanoes that are found thee. It is an expansive, wild place that continues to be a fantastic escape for those looking to get back in touch with nature. The video below will give you an all-too-short glimpse of what this place is like, with a spectacular timelapse from the region. In a word - breathtaking.

Video: Timelapse Shows Off Beauty Of Oregon
Oregon is a beautiful state with diverse landscapes ranging from mountains to beaches and everything in between. This is displayed quite well in the timelapse video below, which will have you making plans to visit the state for yourself.
According to the Vimeo page for the video, this was shot over a six month period, that culminated with a 1600 miles road trip in September. In the process, the creative team behind the project managed to create a piece of art that is a joy to watch. I love the music too!
