Over the year's we've seen plenty of wingsuit pilots leap out of aircraft to make their flights, but this is the exact opposite. In this clip, two BASE jumpers leap off of the Jungfrau in Switzerland and then fly alongside a small plane before landing inside. It definitely has to be seen to be believed.

In the nineteenth century Swiss architect Auguste Magnin created an amazing 3d model of the walled city of Geneva. You can visit the model at the Maison Tavel in Geneva. If you can't get to Geneva then you will need to visit Geneve 1850 instead.

Video: Another Look at the Longest Suspension Footbridge in the World
Awhile back, I shared a video of the Europabrücke Skywalk, which is the longest suspension footbridge in the world. Located in Switzerland, it stretches for 1620 feet (493 meters) and is 282 feet (86 metes) above the ground. Naturally, it has become quite the attraction for trekkers in the area. In this clip, we get another great look at this marvel. I've crossed suspension bridges like this in my travels, but not that quite compares to this one. It is definitely on my list of places I'd love to see. Check it out below.

Video: The Art of Climbing
This video takes us to the Rätikon Mountains of Switzerland where we join professional climber Kilian Fischuber ons a tough route known as Headless Children. As he makes just the second free climb of this mutli-ptich 250-meter (820 ft) wall, he begins to see an intersection of his two passions, climbing and art. On this wall, he sees colors that are not unlike a painting, adding a surreal element to the entire experience.

We've seen some interesting ski videos over the years, but this one ranks near the top. It follows Greg Tuscher and Nicolas Vuignier as they take to the backcountry in Wallis, Switzerland to ski at night using nothing but emergency flares to light their way. The shadows that are cast on the surrounding landscapes make for a unique look to say the least.

Video: Flying a Drone Through a Crevasse
There is no question that personal drones have been one of the real game changers for filmmakers over the past few years, but now these small flying machines are starting to see use elsewhere. Aside from the idea of using drones to deliver packages, they are now being employed in a number of other interesting ways, including mountain rescue operations. In this video, we see an experimentation flight, during which a drone was flown into a crevasse to explore the ways it could be used to search for missing climbers or skiers. The test footage was shot by a company called Flyability, who was working in conjunction with the mountain rescue team in Zermatt, Switzerland. As you'll see, there are still some fine control aspects that need to be worked out, but the drone does indeed give us an inside view of the crevasse itself.
Swiss Mountain Runner Bags Five Peaks in Record Time
Steindl's quest began in the church square in Zermatt and ended the church square in Saas-Fee. In-between he ran a route that crossed the summits of Alphubel (4206 m/13,799 ft), Täschhorn (4491m/14,734 ft), Dom (4545 m/14,911 ft), Lenzspitze (4294 m/14,087 ft), and Nadelhorn (4327m/14,196 ft). His sub-8 hour time ended up being 77 minutes faster than his previous record along this route.
The video below captures the run and gives you an idea of what Andreas was up against. This was no easy run in the mountains by any means, requiring speed, strength, and sure footing to achieve his goal. Watching these mountain runners go about their business never gets old, as they are indeed some of the best athletes in the world today.

We seem to have a theme going with our videos today - mountain biking and Zermatt, Switzerland. In this beautiful short clip a pair of riders head out on fat tire bikes to ride in the mountains above Zermatt on an evening that is lit by a bright, full moon. The images they captured were spectacular, and it looks like an amazing time to go for a ride. For those that don't know, Zermatt is one of Europe's best outdoor playgrounds, with plenty of climbing, skiing, mountain biking, and other activities. I never would have thought to go riding there at night, but this looks amazing.

That's the premise behind this video, in which the filmmakers traveled to Zermatt, Switzerland for a mountain biking trip in the shadow of the Matterhorn. They wanted to highlight the amazing things they saw there, and the elements of Zermatt that stood out the most. This beautiful video is the result.

Swiss vote to hold 20% of its reserves in gold shot down by Swiss population
What was the Swiss Gold Initiative?
- SNB will repatriate and store all Swiss gold reserves in Switzerland.
- SNB will purchase gold until it makes up 20% of their reserves (currently 7.6%), and it must maintain this level of gold reserves.
- SNB can no longer sell gold reserves.
Canton wise voting against the Swiss gold initiative
Swiss voters rejected a measure in a referendum requiring their central bank to hold a portion of its assets in gold, a measure its President Thomas Jordan termed an “invitation to speculators” that could have hurt the economy. Bullion tumbled to a three-week low.
The “Save Our Swiss Gold” proposal stipulating the Swiss National Bank hold at least 20 percent of its 520-billion-franc ($538 billion) balance sheet in gold and never sell any bullion was voted down by 77 percent to 23 percent, the government said yesterday. Polls had forecast the initiative’s rejection. Two other initiatives on tax privileges for foreign millionaires and immigration limits also were rejected.
SNB policy makers warned repeatedly that the measure, which also required the 30 percent of central bank gold stored in Canada and the U.K. to be repatriated, would have made it harder to keep prices stable and shield the central bank’s cap on the franc of 1.20 per euro. That minimum exchange rate was set three years ago, with the SNB pledging to buy foreign currency in unlimited amounts to defend it.
Video: BASE Jumper Completes 49 Jumps in 19 Days
BASE jumper and wingsuit pilot Ian McIntosh traveled to France and Switzerland recently, where he was able to complete an astounding 49 jumps in just 19 days. The video below captures some of the action, as well as some of the other hijinks that occurred along the way. The best shots from the jumps come near the end of the video, but it looks like the entire trip was amazing.

Video: Solo Riders Take on the TORTOUR Challenge
Last week I told you about a grueling cycling event that was just about to get underway in Switzerland. It was called the TORTOUR, and it challenged riders – both solo and team – to take on a 1000 km (620 mile) course, that featured 14,500 meters (47,572 ft) of climbing. If that wasn't difficult enough, they would have to ride the race non-stop, until they finished. In the end, the fastest solo rider was Austrian Severin Zotter, who crossed the line at 36 hours, 32 minutes, and 43 seconds. The video below will give you a bit of a taste of what these riders faced over the past few days, with weather ranging from warm and sunny, to cool and rainy. There was even some snow in the mix, and temperatures falling as low as 2ºC/35ºF. It looks like this event more than lived up to its billing.
