Casio G Shock GW-9010 Atomic Rally Mudman
Here's another G Shock from the past. I liked this one a lot as the red letters and bezel really pops and the solar panel has a cool looking pattern to it that looks like Spiderman's costume. Casio made a terrible mistake with this one by making the window in the middle of the dial display a G when the radio sync was successful and it be completely blank and empty when unsuccessful. Unfortunately the radio reception on this one was not very good so the window was empty most of the time giving the owner a feeling of inadequacy. Still though it has a great case and a very comfortable strap. Covered buttons can be a challenge to push. Great module with some cool chronograph features. I believe this particular model has been discontinued although it may life on in another form in a JDM model.

Casio G Shock GW5600
Here's a nice model I got for my father a couple of years ago. I picked it purposely because of the large digits, but it also has a nice chunky case. Seems larger than the current 5600 case. Radio controlled module actually works fairly well although I think it only receives the US signal. Nice engraved caseback too.
I think this one is still available. I've thought about getting my own, but I know my father will bore of his eventually.

New JDM Citizen Promaster Sky Models
Its been a while since we've seen any new JDM Citizen Promasters but Citizen released two new models in their Sky series the end of 2012. Both models are radio controlled with a variety of strap and dial options.
Models CB0130-51E and CB0134-00E utilize the H145 caliber with an instrument inspired hand set and dial very similar to the current Nighthawk. The world timer feature of this caliber doesn't seem to be used or maybe I can't figure out from the dial and translations how it is used. Models are available with a steel bracelet or leather strap. Full MSRP is 75,000 to 85,000 Yen.

Casio Edifice 2012 Brand Book
Casio has released an online catalog for the Edifice line. Some interesting models. I've always wanted to try an Edifice, but never have.

EQWA1110DC-1 looks the most interesting to me. Cool vintage 70's chronograph style with cutting edge solar charged and atomic reception inside. A quick read of the manual shows that the main hands are actually used for the chronograph instead of the subdials and it is has memory for 10 lap times on the chronograph. Alarm and world timer functions too.

In 2010 Citizen released to the US market a line of simple analog radio controlled models named the World Perpetual AT. This was an exciting time for enthusiasts of radio controlled watches because Citizen finally made this technology available to the US market in regular looking watches with no gadget overtones.

The New Citizen Attesa Direct Flight Is Launched

The newly re-designed Citizen Attesa "Direct Flight" will take off come June 9th, 2011 in the Japan domestic market. The model's new case and bracelet design are aimed at a more mature and business oriented type of wearer with its smaller dimensions and a more comfortable bracelet. If you are a fan of the older 2009 and 2010 Direct Flight releases, don't fret..... Looks like the new watches will be additions and not direct replacements to the current Attesa H610 lineup.

For many years I have looked with wonder at the various Oceanus models with their high price tags and had been skeptical of the quality. A Surprise Package
A friend drops me an email. Says he's sending me some watches to review for the site. G Shock analogue atomics he says. I make a joke about a MTG and expect a AWG or that Waveceptor Arnie diver model. I received the package today. Holy crap! This from a guy I exchange emails with on a regular basis, but wouldn't recognize if I bumped into him at the grocery store. Thanks mate! They won't leave the house, I promise.

Citizen Announces World's Smallest Radio Controlled Watch Movement
Citizen has recently announced the development of the H240 movement which sized at 20.8mm is the world's smallest radio controlled watch movement. The movement will be analogue with multiband global reception and features Citizen's PERFEX technology which adds anti-magnetic construction, impact detection to prevent hand displacement as a result of and also automatically detects and corrects hand position every minute. Expect to see watches released with this new movement in June in ladies models of the EXCEED line.

Review of Casio G Shock GWM5600A-3
Remember those little green army men? Yep, that’s the color of this model. I like the color because it is something a little different but not the standard adolescent selection for G Shocks. There are a few other color options which include black (of course), red, white, yellow and a funky Halloween black and orange. The resin has a flat appearance and is not glossy.
