Salary: Remuneration package of R719 613 per annum (all-inclusive salary package). The remuneration package includes a basic salary (70% of package), State’s contribution to the Government Employees Pension Fund (13% of basic salary) and a flexible portion that can be structured according to the individual’s personal needs.

Requirements:
An appropriate recognised 3-year Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences/Environmental Management or equivalent qualification. Designation as an Environmental Management inspector. Extensive experience in environmental management, with specific reference to bioprospecting, access and benefit sharing. Stakeholder engagement and public relations skills Strategic capability and leadership. Programme and project management skills. Financial management skills. Problem-solving and analysis skills. Good communication skills. Sound organising and planning skills • People management and empowerment. A valid driver’s licence.

Duties:
Develop and implement sustainable utilisation of indigenous biological resources, legislation, policies, strategies, norms and standards promulgated in terms of NEMBA. Implement national bioprospecting legislation and regulations, including bioprospecting permit evaluation, recommendation and issuance. Coordinate and implement international ABS provisions, including CBD articles 15 and 8(J), the Nagoya Protocol, transboundary ABS matters and other international agreements. Ensure capacity building and stakeholder liaison in provinces to ensure the effective implementation of interventions on the sustainable utilisation of biodiversity, including bioprospecting and matters pertaining to the wildlife economy. Develop and implement mechanisms to promote the biodiversity economy and sector contributions to the Green Economy, including transformation (Hunting Indaba).
