Oaty Creamy Dreamy Oat Milk Shower Cream

When I first bought 101 Salvations at the Lush Summit, I genuinely thought that it was a body lotion: the colour in the bottle suggested so, and I was far too busy grabbing everything exclusive in sight, that I failed to notice my mistake. It wasn't until I got home from the event that I realised it was in fact a shower cream.

Despite the popularity of both this and Sleepy Hand Cream at the event, I was surprised when months and months later it hadn't revealed itself in any Kitchen menu, or even made an appearance as an exclusive at Lush Oxford Street. However, when the Kitchen menu announced that it would be bringing out Oaty Creamy Dreamy Oat Milk Shower Cream, I just knew that the two had to be related in some way.

Supposedly another member of the Dream Cream family, this limited edition is designed for those with more sensitive skin and does indeed pertain near-on identical traits to that of the aforementioned Summit exclusive. Rumour has it that the name was changed due to the copyright issues surrounding the original release, although how and why the tongue-twisting alternative was decided, I do not know.

Carefully crafted from the best ingredients for healthy, well-pampered skin, this is a shower cream designed for those with more sensitive skin types, as well as for those who prefer the less 'in your face' fragrances from Lush. In fact, I am surprised that something like this has not been made available before, given how popular Dream Cream is.

Despite the absence of both colour and lustre, this product is far more about the soothing, healing properties that it possesses, than looking aesthetically pleasing. It's definitely not as attractive as any of the shower creams to have come before it, but then it doesn't have to be.

Containing a base of oat milk and rose water, this shower cream is perfect for those with sensitive skin. The oat milk has a very calming effect on the pores - cleaning them out without making them react to the acidity that is often found in other products designed for the skin. The rose water is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to reduce prevalent irritation and redness. It's also a great cleanser - removing oil and dirt from the pores and leaving the skin feeling and looking far more radiant.

Alongside this, you have an accumulation of chamomile, lavender and rose absolute. These three components are very reserved in this format: the lavender taking centre stage with it's gentle, relaxing herbal scent, while the rose absolute intertwines itself around this note and offers a light, almost dampened rose smell. To finish it off, the chamomile adds a cool, delicate note of sweetness - giving this shower cream a perfect finish all around.

Despite the ingredients lists being almost identical, what sets Oaty Creamy Dreamy Oat Milk Shower Cream apart from 101 Salvations is the additional note of cocoa butter in the latter. What made me fall in love with the Summit exclusive, and elevate it above its body lotion counterpart, is that when I began using the cream in the shower, I could smell a layer of cocoa butter on my skin that gave 101 Salvations a slightly chocolately element to it. This isn't present in the newly-named version, which was slightly disappointing.

Much like the aforementioned cream, OCDOMSC is one of the thickest shower creams that Lush have ever produced: you could quite literally leave the bottle upside down and there would be no risk of it leaking out. Having said this, it does seem to be very slightly thinner than 101 Salvations, which is a good thing because it makes it a little easier to squeeze out of the bottle. I would say that you still have to put more of an effort into using it, when compared to a regular shower gel. However, this change is still a welcome one in my eyes.

Adding onto this, you do need to use quite a large quantity to produce any sort of lather to clean yourself with. When using a grape-sized amount, I found that it was difficult to manipulate enough of a foam to spread over more than just my arms. For this reason, I ended up using quite a bit more than I would any of the other shower creams, which meant that my 250g bottle went down a lot quicker than I was expecting.

Despite using more, I still don't think this is a particularly generous shower cream at all, so I wouldn't expect to get almost any sort of lather going when you use this across your body. Yet, I do feel as if when you have rinsed off the thin layer of suds present, you can feel the difference the product has made to your skin.

While it was softening on my body and left a gentle combination of lavender and cocoa butter on the skin afterwards, I didn't feel as if it was as effective at cleaning as many of Lush's other creams and gels. Having said that, it worked wonders on my legs after they had been shaved, and even helped to reduced the redness on the back of neck after a rather gruelling session at the gym.

There is definitely a place for this within Lush's other far more colourful creams and gels. For those who want a cream that is not going to irritate or encourage their skin complaints, this would be the perfect shower companion. I do hope this makes an appearance very soon, because my single bottle is not going to be around for very long when the warmer months begin to make themselves known.

Quantitative Ingredients: Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glycerine, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Oat Milk, Rose Water, Fair Trade Cocoa Butter, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Stearic Acid, Lauryl Betaine, Rose Absolute, Chamomile Blue Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Lavender Oil, Titanium Dioxide, Tincture Of. 101 Salvations Shower Cream

So overwhelming was the Lush Summit event in February, that after talking to many employees about the exclusive products that were on offer at the time, the next day proved how bad my memory was, as I had remembered next to nothing. In fact, it wasn't until nearly a week after the showcase that I discovered my bottle of 'body lotion' turned out to be a shower cream instead.

101 Salvations Shower Cream is as witty in name as the product is beautiful. Carefully crafted from the best ingredients for healthy, well-pampered skin, this is a shower cream that should have made itself known way before it did. Despite the absence of both colour and lustre, this product doesn't exactly jump off the shelf at you - it's definitely not as attractive as any of the shower creams to have come before it. However, you only need to sniff this once to realise that there is something very special about this product.

Sharing its scent with the Dream Cream family, it's a wonder that Lush didn't bring this out years ago, as the market for products designed for more delicate skin types are always in demand. And despite the fact that this has currently only made itself known for the exclusive event last month, there is no way that this wont be making an appearance in the near future: it would be cruel not to.

What makes 101 Salvations Shower Cream so special is the inclusion of the cocoa butter. While it also features in Dream Cream Body Lotion, it acts as more of a base ingredient, so it's there to improve the condition of your skin rather than add to the aroma. In this exclusive beauty, you can clearly detect a creamy, chocolately layer while using it in the shower, which just adds to its appeal and makes it far sexier than any of its predecessors.

In the bottle, this is one of the thickest shower creams that Lush have ever produced: you could quite literally leave the bottle upside down and there would be no risk of it leaking out. For this reason, it does prove a little tricky getting it out of the bottle, as you have to give it a good squeeze, and even then this only heeds a string-like consistency.

Dream On Bath Bomb

Whether its because I'm now ancient, because my preferences for different fragrances has somewhat matured over the years, or because I have bouts of severe insomnia at times, but I have developed a real interest in lavender scented products. When I discovered that Lush was bringing out Dream On Bath Bomb in the Kitchen, I was really excited to get my greedy mitts on a handful - a reaction that would have been completely different, had the release occurred a few years ago.

Sharing its scent with the Dream Cream family, this soothing and very cooling bath bomb has threads of chamomile, tea tree and lavender throughout - the former ingredient being the heavier note, and the one that helps to give this fragrance most of the calming properties that makes it so beautiful.

Much like the body lotion, this limited edition bath bomb has a very cooling, soothing smell - one that takes the naturally sweet and slightly herbaceous note of the chamomile, the powdery floral aroma of the lavender and the aromatic note from the rose, and creates an interesting but equally inoffensive fragrance. It's not a smell that most people will wholeheartedly love, but it is one that promises the zen-like experience that this ballistic ultimately offers.

Despite its size, this bath bomb packs a punch. Upon contact with the water, Dream On immediately begins to froth and fizz - sending out waves of creamsicle-orange that helped to create a vibrant but equally relaxing looking bath. Surprisingly, the scent remained fairly potent throughout the experience, and I was really impressed to find that I could still detect a faint hint of the product on my skin afterwards. I only say this latter point because my experience with a lot of chamomile-dominated cosmetics tends to side with the fact that the ingredient just doesn't have lasting power on the skin, and with this bomb I was proven wrong.

Coupled with Dreamwash Smoothie during the bath, and a generous helping of Dream Cream lathered on afterwards, this ballistic is the perfect accompaniment for: those with sensitive skin: consumers who are looking for something to restore skin that may be irritated or sun-damaged; and those searching for something highly relaxing to aide relaxation and sleep.

With a generous helping of both cocoa butter and jojoba oil to soften and condition the skin, and the inclusion of rose absolute to replenish and restore the skin's natural moisture levels, this is exactly the sort of product you need throughout the early months of the year. I often find that my skin becomes rather dull-looking and feels rather parched during January and February, despite drinking more fluids and moisturising more frequently. Something like Dream On is great for that immediate relief, and leaves your skin looking and feeling so much better because of it.

What is impressive is that once the bath bomb has fully dissolved, you can see a thin layer of oil on the surface of the water. This means that it only takes a few seconds of submerging yourself under the water to begin noticing how silky-soft your skin becomes in such a short space of time. Furthermore, while you would expect to feel fairly greasy because of how  much extra 'butter' is floating around the tub, I was relieved to find that Lush have created the perfect balance. There is enough here to condition your whole body without leaving you feeling like you've thrown an entire massage bar into the water.

My only grouch with this bath bomb is that once the water has been drained, you can develop grease stains around the rim of the tub. These are easy enough to wipe away, and definitely don't stain the bath like some products have been known to do, but it does mean that you need to give your bath a good rinse after using one of these.

While these wouldn't win a place in my list of top ten bath bombs from Lush, I will definitely enjoy the handful I left to use. And whenever I feel as if my body needs a fast response to weathered skin, this will be the first product I turn to. This would definitely be my number one choice to soothe sunburnt or irritated skin.

Quantitative Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Jojoba Oil, Rose Absolute, Chamomile Blue Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Lavender Oil, Gardenia Extract, *Linalool, Perfume.

Tea Tree Toner Spray

I don't think there are many people on the planet that would argue against the benefits of tea tree, in all of its formats; it's a miracle ingredient in as many words. The oil has been scientifically proven to be antibacterial and antifungal and has natural properties that make it incredible for the skin, hair and even the internal organs. For these reasons, I had no doubt in my mind that Tea Tree Toner Spray was going to be incredible. I love being proved right.

The toner spray is one of the simplest ones from Lush, and indeed one of the most basic products that the company offer to date. With only six ingredients, you wonder how something so simple could benefit your skin all that much. However, it is its simplicity that makes it so effective - Lush have chosen a handful of essential ingredients and combined them to make a super spray.

As the name suggests, Tea Tree Toner Spray features tea tree water as the main ingredient - a simple product that is made from combining tea tree oil with water. The oil is dispersed throughout the water so that it offers the same level of beneficial skincare but with more of the stuff to go around. Tea tree is antibacterial, gentle on the skin and very soothing, especially for those who suffer from sensitivity.
This spray also features grapefruit water, which as well as giving it a gentle citrus burst, is the main ingredient that helps to improve the condition of your skin. The natural citrus juices help to cleanse the pores and is great for those users who want to remove dirt from their pores without stripping their skin of the natural oils already present. Just like other citrus fruits, grapefruit is uplifting on both your mood and your skin - it helps to bring back some of that vibrancy that is often lost on overworked and tired complexions.

Finally, juniperberry water supports both of the main ingredients - it too being known for its skin-clearing and oil-controlling properties. It is this that you can initially smell when you use Tea Tree - a wonderful sweet and woody fragrance with an underlying note of citrus and a burst of tea tree to round it all off.

Just like Lush's other toner sprays, this one works by squirting it directly onto your face and then using a cotton pad to wipe away excess dirt that may have built up throughout the day. Some people may prefer to spray this into their hand and then apply it to the face that way - I find that either works fine. I tend to spray it onto my face and then leave it to settle into the skin, and I find that my complexion feels so revitalised and radiant after doing so.

I tend to use this product after I've gotten out of the shower, spraying it directly onto my face to remove any build up that has been left from my cleanser. I then apply my facial moisturiser on top of this and my face remains smooth and gentle for the rest of the day. One top up in the afternoon and my skin stays feeling radiant and silky-soft for the rest of the evening.

Tea Tree Toner Spray leaves your face beautifully soft and smooth - I could feel the radiance emanating from my face from the initial first use. This is easily my favourite toner spray and one I will always carry around with me. Priced at only £3.95 for a 100ml bottle, this product will give you months of rejuvenated and invigorated skin -I highly suggest that you try one out for yourself - you won't regret it.

Quantitative Ingredients: Tea Tree Water, Grapefruit Water, Juniperberry Water, Limonene, Perfume, Methylparaben.

Vegan?: Yes.

2015 Price: £4.50 for 100g, £8.50 for 250g.

Squeaky Green Solid Shampoo

As I've mentioned before, I am now a fully fledged solid shampoo lover - I cannot imagine ever going back to the bottled variation. Not only are they really handy to carry with you whilst travelling, without having to worry about spillages, they're also fantastic value for money. A 50g block costs a little over £5 and will last anywhere from 2-6 months - I'd be hard-pressed to stretch a 500g bottle of liquid shampoo for any more than two months, and you're probably looking at paying triple the price for this privilege.

The only challenge left for me, is to determine which of the nine (soon to be fourteen) solid shampoo bars on offer from Lush, will be the one I use regularly. Squeaky Green was the next one of my list of ones to try, and I was really excited to test it out, if only for its amazing colour.

This product is made with freshly cut nettles, rosemary and peppermint herbs - a combination that sounds absolutely beautiful as well as highly natural. Described as the first shampoo bar from Lush to feature noodles in the ingredients list, this solid hair care aims to revive and refresh your locks, whilst banishing dandruff and leaving your hair looking and smelling divine.

As well as the above elements, Squeaky Green also features rose and vanilla absolute; two ingredients which give the bar a slight subtle sweetness and help to balance and calm irritated scalps. Luckily, I'm not one to suffer from a sensitive scalp, but I didn't think it would hurt my chances to improve the condition of my scalp by using this shampoo.

This product also features powdered tea tree and chamomile essential oil - both of which play an important role in the shampoo's overall scent, as well as allowing it to fully cleanse your hair without leaving it dry or stripped of natural oils.

Altogether, Squeaky Green shares it's scent with the now-discontinued, Go Green - a fragrance that has been released as a perfume as well as a ballistic amongst other products over the years. Recently, I tried Go Green Solid Perfume and instantly fell in love with it, so I was hoping that this shampoo would win my heart over as well. It's a beautiful light and highly refreshingly-natural fragrance and would be best suited for those of you who enjoy Grass Shampoo
For those who are not familiar with Lush's solid shampoo bars, they are different coloured/scented shampoos that have been compacted into 50g rounded chunks. You use them in the same way as you would soap, either rubbing it over your wet hair to create a lather, or massaging it between your palms and applying the lather to your hair. Either way, they work just like a normal shampoo would.

In addition, these shampoo bars are much better value than their liquid counterparts; firstly, you can get near-enough 80 uses out of a single bar, which works out at just over 7 pence a time. Secondly, the bars don't need to be stored or presented in any packaging so they're environmentally great. Finally, Lush don't have to include any nasty synthetic ingredients to keep them at liquid consistency when at room temperature, making them more natural.

After using Squeaky Green, my hair was really light and soft and genuinely felt as if it had been given a deep cleanse. Despite feeling quite rough in the shower, once my locks had dried naturally, my hair didn't look dry or greasy - instead I was able to leave it down without straightening it, and it supported my natural wave.

As someone who dyes their hair on a monthly basis, I always worry that the shampoo I use will strip my hair of colour, or at the very least, cause my colour to fade quicker than it should. After using this solid bar for near on a month, I didn't notice any fading more than the usual wear and tear.

One thing that I was slightly disappointed by was the strength of the fragrance once it had been applied to the hair. When the product is dry, Squeaky Green has a beautiful scent which reminds me of freshly cut grass - a perfect companion on those hot summer days. However, I could barely smell this in the shower and no remnants of smell stayed on my hair once the conditioner had been applied.

Overall, this shampoo is not the best I have tried but neither is it a terrible shampoo. Having used Gentil LentilIrresistible Bliss and Montalbano, and finding that both of these leave my hair looking incredible, they have both set the barrier for the quality of shampoo I expect.

Squeaky Green cleans your hair wonderfully, without stripping it of colour or natural lubricant. However, it didn't leave my hair as wonderfully soft as others have done, and for this reason, I will keep searching for my ultimate solid saviour.

Quantitative Ingredients: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Perfume, Methyl Ionone, Rosemary, Nettle, Water (Aqua), Tea Tree Powder, Peppermint, Rose Absolute, Chamomile Blue Oil, Fair Trade Vanilla Absolute, Coumarin, Geraniol, Benzyl Benzoate, Limonene, Linalool, Hydroxycitronellal, Chlorophyllin.
