The world of the Karagiozis
The famous Christodoulos Paphios, grandson of the legendary shadow theatre puppeteer Paphios, will offer a workshop on how the figures used for the theatre of shadows are made and present a series of performances.
Primary school children and their teachers will be shown how to make figures such as Karagiozis/Karagöz (central figure of Cypriot, Greek, and Turkish theatre of shadows) and they will get to learn all the secrets of this traditional craft. The adventures of Karagiozis, his misfortunes and funny incidences with the humour and wit they entail make the theatre of shadows and its heroes a timeless source of fun and entertainment for young and old.
