Magón
Along with Emiliano Zapata, Ricardo Flores Magón (1874-1922) is regarded as one of the
most important figures of the Mexican revolution. Through his newspaper Regeneración, he
boldly criticized the injustices of the country’s military dictatorship and worked to
build the popular movement that eventually overthrew it. Exiled to the United States,
Flores Magón continued to agitate for revolution in Mexico. Transcending nationalism, he
also dreamed of a world free from all forms of injustice. Both the US and Mexican
governments responded with harsh repression. ---- "“We are free, truly free, when we
don't need to rent our arms to anybody in order to be able to lift a piece of bread to our
mouths.” ---- Further Reading: ---- "Ricardo Flores Magón: Vida y Obra" A 10 minute
