The Atti?k?
We are the 31 boulevard Sembat Saint-Denis since October 28, 2013. This old building
Insurance is left empty for more than two years. We documented or undocumented, with or
without house, Worker-s,-s-euse unemployed, student-es, and many other things,
Seine-Saint-Denis and elsewhere.
Facing renovation Urban cynical and brutal in Saint-Denis, which is done on the backs of
the poor
response to rising rents and evictions
Faced with slumlords and unsafe,
the face of public housing waiting lists and criteria often inaccessible private rentals,
the face of individualism and isolation,
We act for ourselves, with our own!
The requisitioned 31 bd Sembat building, called social Atti?k? Centre, responded to two
needs. First, the need for housing, when nothing or no one wants or can do for us,
especially if you are undocumented, single and childless, the city and the prefecture
makes us feel that 'd better disappear. We can not sleep in the street, the risk of dying
of cold, exposure to everyone. We need this place to escape. This is our home. This is a
residential area, where life is common, based on mutual respect, despite the different
paths each-e. Certain es rise at 5am to go to work, they / they go, wash and fold. It /
they have their family behind them / them at home. But this is not just any squat. This is
not a hotel where you come and you go when you want. We are responsible for one-es to
others, we must be vigilant-e. We live together here is collective, it is for everyone the
same, black, white, yellow, girl, guys, we're equal.
Then the Atti?k? responds to the need to appropriate a vacant space to enable us meet,
mutual and against attack. And for that autonomy it feels good. To arrange a direct and
local solidarity, our extent, without paternalism or politician-ing, face housing problems
and paper, among others. This place is a space and organization of public events, open to
all / your: meals area, permanently housing continuously for undocumented persons,
permanence of public writer, film screenings, debates, music, workshop bicycle spaces for
children, open to the struggles in Saint-Denis and elsewhere meetings ...
Social Centre Atti?k? is an open place to organize, to meet together and resist. We call
tou-te-s-es inhabitants of Saint-Denis and abroad to visit us and support the Social
Centre and its inhabitants-es.
