Has come a new September, and it can not be more full of symbolism. As we recalled last
month, the 40th anniversary of the coup that occurred on September 11, 1973, by which the
Chilean bourgeoisie, with the active support of the government of the United States,
overthrew the Popular Unity government and opened a period of intense repression against
the left and the organized. ---- If there is one lesson that and libertarians believe it
is necessary to recover from those years is the desire for collective and to generate the
necessary unity to build the social force capable of making structural changes. The
challenges that lie ahead and the left are huge. ---- In an accelerated process of
realignment of forces ruling bloc that seeks to harness and co-opt social protest, it is
urgent that we forge joint spaces that pivot around a particular tactical option, but
around the strategic objectives of political project accumulated in these years of revival
of the popular movement and to dispute the hegemony of the owners of the country.

month, the 40th anniversary of the coup that occurred on September 11, 1973, by which the
Chilean bourgeoisie, with the active support of the government of the United States,
overthrew the Popular Unity government and opened a period of intense repression against
the left and the organized.
It is clear that the violent repression suffered during the 17 years of dictatorship
sought to instill fear as a wall that prevented the resurgence of popular organizations.
That fear got extend through the " saber rattling " until recently, but no longer holds
more, is beginning to fade. We can proudly say that we are able to shake off the terror
imposed and, in the process, we have recovered the street as a space for political
expression and challenging, by applications background, basic support system.
Who in recent years we have moved in the country, either in the student demonstrations in
the struggle to change the unfair pension system in strikes or stoppages and barricades
against centralism community, we are fighting, we know it or not against the baneful
legacy Pinochet, reflected in the current economic model, the current institutional
structure and aberrant social deficit we suffer as a people. And the main purpose of the
coup was to create the conditions of submission to enable them to make a profound
transformation of the country through a series of labor reforms, economic, social and
cultural factors that sought to end the role of the popular sectors.
During the thousand days of the UP government, the people were able to make significant
progress in their most pressing demands, combining the efforts of workers, residents,
students and professionals, working side by side to build socialism and Power multiplying
initiatives antagonistic to the order of the rich, which materialized in the construction
of embryonic organs of power themselves, as were the laces Industrial Communal Commands,
takes control of land and territorial boards of control supplies and prices, among others.
Undoubtedly, it was the period of our history when widened opportunities for political
participation for the great majority of the country, which had been systematically
neglected by formal democracy and constrained force until then.
