A little help from Zoie

Finally, the dining-room is put back in order.
I'm happy with the darker varnished window-sills and door frames.
It's amazing how repairing a broken window pane can result in a weeks worth of improvements.
This little old house of ours (120 years old) has lots of wood to care for. It's a small house that has always required a lot of work.
"Oh, hi (alien) Audrey."

On to cat-sitting...

Yes, that is snow beside my foot. I refuse to wear winter boots anymore *shakes her fist to the sky*  but the snow is still here.

The object above my feet is a cat toy. Yesterday, Zoie and I played awhile with it before I fed her dinner and hugged her good-bye 'for now'.
This morning I arrived to find the same toy sitting at the front door where I enter.
This was for me; a gift of sorts.

Years ago, my Cali would leave items at the front door when the family left for the day. On return, we would find toys of all sorts piled up just inside where we would enter. No other place.
I asked my vet, Dr. Anne about this as I found it to be quite odd and had never experienced a cat doing that before.
Her explanation was that the cat would see you leave, find something in the house that had your scent on it and leave it at the exact spot where the cat last saw you.
This gesture was to help YOU find your way back home.

So, with that in mind, I was quite complimented this morning when I found something with my scent on it from yesterdays' play-time waiting right where Zoie last saw me.
Sweet? I think so.
She also watches out the window for the lady with thumbs.
I know when I'm needed. ;-)
She has the cutest little 'pucker-up' mouth I have ever seen on a cat.

And now for a weather report...

This was our other property yesterday morning covered in a blanket of snow.
The ground is still too wet for any digging.
I'm hoping for lots of sunshine in the coming weeks.

hugs, Deb
