White Dog sat in her window perch and tried to reassure her pacing brother. “Go ahead and just lay across the doorway. I will bark a warning when I see the car pulling up.” The Other White Dog went to the door; he lay down; he shifted; he wiggled some more; he repositioned himself. Then he stood back up and renewed his pacing. “Thanks, White Dog, but I am so nervous! Do I look all right?” “You were at the groomer yesterday; you look terrific. Relax!” “I can’t.”

Daisy Mae, the beautiful long-legged white standard poodle who captured Quinn’s heart in October, was coming for a weekend visit with her parents. They were due in just a little while. Our boy had already uncharacteristically ordered his siblings Another White Dog and Still Another White Dog around all morning making them straighten up their sleeping places and their toys. TOWD brought me the brush and pointedly looked at Puff and then at Nuka. “Calm yourself, Big Boy, Daisy Mae will love your sisters, don’t worry.” “BIG Boy? Are you saying I am getting Fat?” My sensitive Quinn wailed. “No, Sweetie, you are the perfect Eskie and I am just saying that Daisy Mae will be glad to see you just as you are!”

White Dog came and sat in front of him, blocking him midstride. She looked him in the eye. “Remember how much fun we had during Balloon Fiesta? It was like a nonstop party. We ALL liked each other and got along and shared lots of good times. That is how Daisy Mae remembers you: that mellow, easy going guy who knew how to make a girl feel special without overdoing things. Just be yourself. I hate to admit this out loud, but you are pretty terrific, so go with your best game…the genuine happy boy. She’ll love you.”

“Really?” Quinn asked looking around the room. “Really!” Nuka, Puff and I responded as one. “Wait and see!”

She's here! Welcome hugs!
