The Girls' Bathroom Reveal

Today we are excited to share with you our upstairs bathroom makeover which we generally refer to as "the girls' bathroom". Along with five other bloggers, we partnered up with Wayfair for this transformation and it was so much fun! Wayfair has super fast shipping on the majority of their items and from the time we started planning this makeover to the time we photographed it was only about 60 days. And the actual remodel part was less than ten days! So here we go:

Except for the wallpaper, which we got from DecoratorsBest, we got pretty much everything for this remodel from Wayfair - from the floor tile, shower tile, the toilet, mirrors, sconce and all of the fixtures - even the cabinet pulls and toilet paper holder! They have such a huge selection to choose from and they have amazing customer service and are so wonderful to work with! 

Here's a before shot from when we moved in. It was completely fine but we wanted to give it a little more personality.

And here it is now! We originally thought about playing around with the layout a bit so that the toilet wasn't the focus when you looked in from the hallway but after talking with the contractor and realizing that would double our labor costs we decided to keep it where it was and choose a toilet that we loved the look of. We actually chose this exact toilet in our last house and LOVED the clean lines of it so we went with it again and I am so glad we did. As silly as it may sound, I think it is a really pretty toilet - ha! And then by adding lots of visual interest with the bold wallpaper, the beadboard and the herringbone pattern on the floor it helps distract your eye from staring at the toilet too long.

but now by sticking with a white color scheme and removing the doors it feel so much larger:

I love the large soaking tub we chose  and the interest that the pattern the tile above it has. By keeping it all white it helps keep the space feeling larger and more open but the pattern keeps it from being boring!

We went with Delta's Brilliance Champagne Bronze color for the tub and shower fixtures as well as the ones for the sink. It is such a pretty color and I love the subtle touch of glamour it adds to the space.

The vanity had recently been painted and a new counter added by the previous owner so we kept those things as is and then just updated the faucets and handles to go with the rest of the space. We also had the back and side splashes removed which I really think helps make the whole vanity feel so much more updated. 

To really add interest we went with a bold wallpaper. My girls have very very different taste (as you can tell from each of their bedrooms - Lillie's can be found here and Lola's here) so the fact that they BOTH chose this wallpaper as their favorite was quite shocking! Haha! I had picked out ten or so that I thought they might like and never thought they would both end up liking the same one! I had them each list their top three and then was hoping there would be one that would be on both of their lists so was thrilled when they both listed this as their number one option! We got it from our sponsor, DecoratorsBest and it is absolutely beautiful! I have been eyeing it for several years now and was so excited to have a space where it worked so well! I love how bright and cheery it is and that the pattern is traditional but the bright color makes it feel more modern.  I also love that when we are at the top of the stairs you can see both this wallpaper and Lola's and they coordinate really well together! 

I not only love the oval shape of the mirrors, I love their unexpected thickness too.

I had a hard time deciding on a sconce. I originally had chosen something more traditional but the color I wanted was on backorder so I had a few other similar ones I was deciding on and then decided to go with something a little bit more modern for a fun twist. I really like how it turned out but also know that if I decide I was something a little more traditional I can always add a basic shade to it. 

I enjoy mixing some modern touches with some more vintage ones. This faucet has a vintage feel to it and I love how it looks against the beadboard. 

We added these pulls and knobs to the vanity for another modern touch:

The marble floor is probably one of my favorite parts. I love that it feel classic and clean but also has a bit of a modern touch with the herringbone pattern.  

Along with being able to do this makeover quickly we also were able to keep our budget for materials under $3000! I am so happy that we did this project and love seeing it as I go up and down the stairs each day!

Plans For Our Upstairs Bathroom Update

We are excited to be starting on the upstairs hallway bathroom next week so I thought today I would share a little look at what we are planning on doing in here. This is the bathroom our girls use (and our guests when they are here) and we are teaming up with Wayfair for this project and cannot wait to get started. We are keeping the vanity but changing everything else. We are sticking with mostly whites, grays and golds but going pretty bold with the wallpaper which shockingly both of my girls chose. As they have gotten older they have very different taste so when they both picked this as their first choice I was quite surprised and excited!

Here are some before shots:

The tub is quite shallow and the clunky glass doors make it feel smaller so we are going to replace the tub with a larger soaking one and then use the white mosaic tile to surround it and then just use a basic shower curtain. I think this will really help make the space feel bigger in here.

The bathroom is long and narrow and there is a door that separates the toilet and shower from the vanity which definitely helps with privacy. The previous owner had replaced the counters in here so even though I considered entirely replacing the vanity it felt wasteful to do that so we are going to keep the vanity but get rid of the sidesplash and backsplash and remove the bulkhead above. Then we will update the faucets to match what we are going to be using the the tub/shower. Pretty much all of the items in the collage above are already sitting in our garage and ready for the makeover. The two items though that I am still deciding on are the sconce and mirrors - I put the ones in the collage that I am most likely going with but those are my last two decisions in here so there is a chance those may change in the next few days.

I am really excited about replacing the floor in here with a marble herringbone pattern and seeing how the toilet is the first thing you see when walking by this room we are replacing that with the same one we used in our master bathroom at our last house - I loved the clean, classic lines of it!

Our $62 Mini Bathroom Makeover

The master bathroom in our new home had just been completely renovated, so although we will be adding some personal touches it is nice not to have to tackle that project. However, the other two bathrooms we plan on doing some remodeling to. One of them we plan on remodeling in February or March and then will probably hold off a little while before tackling the second one. I had originally been planning on doing this downstairs bathroom first because it's the one that everyone sees, but after giving it a quick mini makeover it has made a big difference so now I am leaning towards doing the girls' bathroom upstairs.

(Sorry in advance for the not so great photos - this room gets zero natural light so it makes photographing it  pretty tricky.)

While I am deciding on whether we first tackle the girls' bathroom upstairs or this one downstairs I decided to give this bathroom a quick mini makeover because the flowery tile mural kind of drove me crazy every time I walked by it, plus it's the bathroom everyone uses when they visit. Because we will eventually be remodeling this bathroom I didn't want to spend much money. My goal was to spend under $100 so I was excited to end up at $62! 

First I bought a inexpensive shower tension rod for around $10. Then I found some 96" curtain panels at HomeGoods. They were $19.99 for a pack of two panels. I could have gotten away with just two but I wanted it to look nice and full so I ended up buying two packs. I hung it high - right up to the ceiling to help completely hide the shower. Then the only other item I purchased was the little rug. I loved the navy and gray colors in it and it was just $12. Once I had the curtains and the rug, even though it looked fine with the blue walls I thought it would be prettier against a really dark wall. I had some Nightfall on hand so used that (obviously if I had to buy paint it would have brought my cost up a bit more but I still would have come in under $100). I have to say, painting a bathroom is my least favorite! Ha, every time I paint one I cringe the whole time. But the nice thing is it usually goes really quickly! 

For the finishing touches I just used things we already owned and hadn't found a spot for yet in our new house. I love the mirror in here!
