Iran Marks The 39th Anniversary Of The Islamic Revolution



Tehran Times: Huge turnout in marches marking Islamic Revolution anniversary

The people from all walks of life took part in the rallies in more than 1000 cities and towns across the country.

The Bahman 22 in the Iranian calendar year, which mostly fall on Feb. 11, is synonymous with the Islamic Revolution. On this date in 1979, after a long struggle, Iranians succeeded to overthrow the dictatorial regime of Mohammad-Reza Pahlavi, the last monarch of Iran, and establish a democratic government instead.

The massive marches in this year’s rallies were highly significant especially after U.S. President Donald used the nearly one-week protests in Iran in in late December and early January as a pretext to divide the Iranian nation through his inflammatory tweets.

Iran Bans The Teaching Of English In Its Primary Schools



The Independent: Iran bans English being taught in primary schools

‘This is because the assumption is that, in primary education, the groundwork for the Iranian culture of the students is laid,’ says head of the state-run High Education Council

Iran has banned English from being taught in primary schools after the country’s Supreme Leader said learning the language in the early years paved the way for a Western “cultural invasion”.

A senior education official announced the language had been banned because the Iranian culture of students is established during primary level education.

In Iran, where Persian is the country’s official national language, primary school starts at the age of six and lasts for six years.

WNU Editor: Students in Iran are going to learn English .... even with this Iranian government ban. I live in the province of Quebec, Canada, and in this province the children of immigrants must enroll their kids into French schools where English is only taught in High School (and not much of it at that). But they are still learning English .... from friends, TV, the internet, etc... to the point where almost all francophone kids and young adults on the island of Montreal can and do speak English.
