Ingredients in Cajun 15 Bean Soup

  • 15 Bean Blend – found in the dried bean section of your grocery store, it comes with a seasoning packet and is the only pack of beans you need to use.
  • Onion and Garlic – for flavor.
  • Chicken Stock – the base of your soup, I prefer chicken stock but you can absolutely use chicken broth instead, if you prefer.
  • Spices and Seasonings – handful of spices you probably already have on hand.
  • Diced Tomatoes – add the entire can, juices included.
  • Andouille / Smoked Sausage – Add smoked sausage or andouille sausage for added flavor

  • This Cajun 15 Bean Soup recipe is thick and hearty. For a thinner soup, add more chicken stock.
  • Do not add the tomatoes or lemon juice until the very end. Adding anything acidic to your beans before then will toughen them up.
  • Go wild with the meat. Smoked sausage, a leftover hambone, smoked ham hocks, chopped ham steak..
  • Serve over rice and with a slab of cornbread.. trust me!
  • Add some veggies to this soup if you like.. diced carrots, green pepper and celery are the perfect compliment.
