Dear friends, Women in Poland are in even more danger than ever before. Poland has the most restrictive abortion laws in Europe — making abortions nearly inaccessible for the majority. The current law states abortion is only allowed if the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest, if the woman’s life is in danger or in cases of severe or fatal fetal impairment. Now the Parliament is considering a bill that will remove severe or fatal fetal impairment from the list of permitted grounds — putting women’s health at serious risk. Call on the President of Poland and Parliament to reject further restrictions to the abortion law now. Protesters in Poland are calling for a feminist response, working to protest and introduce bills that save women rather than harm them. In October 2016, thousands of women marched across Poland to protest abortion restrictions in a bill that advocated prison sentences of up to five years for women who had abortions. Today, we continue to stand with Polish women in working for their rights. People who care about women’s rights in Poland are fighting back again, and advocating for women and girls. Act now to support the rights of women and girls in Poland. Thank you for taking action. | ||
