Internationalist solidarity to sweep the fascist threat to the Balkans ---- Political call
to the demonstration against Lukovmarch ---- February 17, 2018 | Sofia - Bulgaria ---- On
a planetary level, the state and capitalist machinery is attempting to intensify
inequalities, oppression and exploitation. With a view to increasing power and control,
modern totalitarianism does not hesitate to form warfare in the region while continuing to
strike against the rebellious strata in the West. Inside this swarm of cultivated
insecurity, racist and intolerant narratives of fascist groupings, which are an integral
part of the total movement of the ruling bloc, find development territory. ---- In the US,
the fascists are murdering Charlottesville openly to terrorize the anti-fascist movement,
while the police execute colorful streets on the streets. In France, social-democrats
manage the emergency situation with the special forces of the army and the police in the
squares, while imposing new anti-labor and antisocial restructuring policies. The most
extreme right-wing governments of Hungary, the Czech Republic and the Baltic countries
tighten national racialist doctrine of Europe-Fort by expelling refugees and immigrants.
In Austria the fascists entered the government. In Bulgaria, a new right-wing government
has given positions to far-right, stirring nationalist conflicts and consolidating its
anti-immigration policy,

In Greece, according to NATO's orders, with the agitation of the Macedonian, SYRIZA
appears to be the most effective trader of the bourgeoisie's pursuits and international
organizations, while simultaneously an enlarged audience rallies around nationalism. The
whole political system builds on the promoted nationalism the appropriate profile that
will allow the power of the author of the arc to star in the next.

The promotion of nationalism and racism, the attack on anarchists, strikers and militants
intensify exploitation and oppression by assisting objectively and directly in the
development and empowerment of fascist and neo-Nazi groupings.

Everywhere in the world, the role of the fascists remains the same: to do the dirty work
to better serve the powerful, to hate the poor of other areas, to disorientate and prepare
the relatives for a new mass slaughterhouse in a warlike conflict in the future.

Every year in Sofia, Bulgaria, a fascist parade is held in honor of the fascist general
Hristo Lukov, executed by the rebel Violeta Yakova on February 13, 1943. The parade
organizes a series of neo-Nazi parties and organizations such as the Bulgarian National
League and others. The parade is the leading event of fascism in Bulgaria, and every year
delegations from fascist and Nazi parties from other European countries (Germany, Spain,
Italy, Sweden, etc.) participate.

For us, as anarchists, resistance to the pursuit of totalitarianism and fascism should
have an internationalist character. It is impossible to confront globalized capitalism and
fascism exclusively in Greece. It is vital to develop contacts and practical solidarity
between comrades in neighboring countries as well as on an enlarged international level.
The Anarchist Political Organization, with its previous decision, strongly supported the
anti-fascist demonstration held last February in Sofia. About 50 comrades from Greece
found themselves in Sofia to protest against fascism and to support their comrades who, in
recent years, have been trying to build embankments in the continuous promotion of
fascism, to create structures and fronts of resistance to the assault of state, fascists
and mafias . The demonstration achieved its purpose, having managed to rally and pull down
enough people on the road to become a visible point of resistance to the spread of fascist
hatred. With vigor and determination, he tried to move against the 20 fascists who had set
up a counter-concentration, forcing them to be silenced and protected by the forces of
repression. In the next period in Sofia, a social space was opened, thus giving more
momentum to social and class struggles. Recently, the comrades also participated in the
mass demonstrations that took place there against the ecological disaster prepared by the
Bulgarian state in the Bansko region.

The social movement in Bulgaria, after being completely dissolved under the state boot of
socialism, was first faced with the nationalistic and fascist groups that were
reconstructed after the collapse of 1991. It is now vital to support the anti-fascist
movement of Bulgaria in order to can resist the fascist threat, so that social and class
resistances can flourish, against nationalist crowns and capitalist imperatives. For this
reason, APA also calls on groups and individuals to respond to the call for participation
in the 17th February demonstration in Sofia, Bulgaria.

To strengthen joint internationalist struggles. For the Balkans of equality, solidarity
and mutual respect. For the Social Revolution, Liberal Communism and Anarchy.

Editorial: Afri-Gaza: an air of déjà-vu

As when Israel massacred the Palestinian population, Moscow, Paris and Washington claim to
" understand the legitimate right " of the aggressor, but ask him to act " with restraint".

Unsurprisingly, the Turkish army and its Islamist counterparts in the Free Syrian Army
launched an offensive on Afrin against the Kurdish left.

The latter was the main architect of the defeat of Daesh in Syria. Daech, which the
Turkish regime had knowingly supported. France, Russia and the United States had supported
the fight of the Arab-Kurdish militia against Daesh ... but they do not want to get angry
with Ankara, a member of weight in NATO, and a key actor of the Syrian conflict. So what
are they doing ? They let go of the Kurdish left.

And they do it with the same miserable rhetoric as when Israel bombards Gaza and massacres
the Palestinian population. They claim to " understand the security imperatives " and the
" lawful right " of the abuser, but ask him to act " with restraint " and " moderation ".

Translation: try to crush your enemy without excessive carnage please ; do not force us to
open our eyes.

This cowardice by the imperialist states is not a surprise. For them, the " war against
jihadism " stops where diplomatic obligations begin vis-à-vis their partners who, like
Turkey, support jihadism.

Nevertheless, Washington, Moscow and Paris are very bored. Erdogan forces them to display
their hypocrisy in broad daylight.

Let them count on us to spread it a little more ! Protest, let's manifest, let's shout our
indignation. Like Kobanê, Afrîn will be saved by the tenacity of his defenders, but also
by the fervor of international solidarity.

Kobanê won. Afrîn will win !

Recent News ---- The Australian government has issued a deportation order for Santharuban,
a Tamil refugee currently detained at the MITA detention centre in Broadmeadows, despite
the fact that he faces likely torture and possible death at the hands of the Sri Lankan
regime if he is deported. ---- The United Nations committee against torture have requested
that the Australian government halt the deportation, so naturally Australian Border Force
intend to deport Santharuban as soon as possible. ---- The Tamil Refugee Council and Close
the Camps Action Collective are calling for a demonstration this Sunday, 2pm, outside the
MITA detention facility at 150 Camp Road, Broadmeadows. The hope is that protest action
will signal to the Sri Lankan government that any attempt to disappear Santharuban will be
noticed and will be subject to international attention.

We strongly encourage all supporters to attend the demonstration this Sunday, and to
support any and all attempts to prevent Santharuban's deportation.

The Victorian government is pushing ahead with its disgraceful attack on inner city public
housing. Chloe has written a summary of the key issues for the Collective Action website,
Stop the Public Housing Sell Off, here's an excerpt:

"These inner north suburbs are highly sought after because of their vibrant cultures and
sense of community, which local people - including public housing residents - have helped
to build and foster. This is one notable dimension of gentrification: working class people
are pushed out of their homes, while those with the economic capital to purchase or rent
in the increasingly expensive rental markets of these suburbs enjoy the fruits of working
class labour. ... This plan demonstrates the true priorities of the Labour government, who
would see public housing diminished and residents losing housing security and community in
favour of profits for developers."

The Public Housing Defence Network is community opposition to the sell-off, be sure to go
and like their Facebook page, share their information and support their events. Their next
community meeting will be in Ascot Vale on Sunday.

Kaos GL Association made a statement with the title "Urgent Release" for trans-anarchist
prisoner Diren Coskun held in Tekirdag F-Type Prison No. 2, who entered the 21st day of
hunger strike against the violation of rights in prison and for the right of surgery and
treatment. In the statement published in Turkish and English it is called to meet Coskun's
demands. ---- Here's the full statement: ---- "Human rights demands of transgender woman
prisoner Diren Coskun, who has been under arrest in Tekirdag No. 2 Prison in Turkey and
started a hunger 20 days ago, have to be fullfilled as soon as possible. Gender identify
is an integral part of human existence. In this respect, Diren Coskun's demands for the
right to health from the prison administration are also related with protection of her
personal intergrifty and the respect for the right to personality. Prison admistration is
responsible for providing the most basic demands of Diren Coskun regarding her gender
identity, gender expression and gender transition; that are surgery, epilation and all
other medical, psychological, psychiatric and social support.

Diren Coskun also declares that although she has the right to go to open prison, she is
not allowed to do it. She is being held in isolation under un lawful conditions. Isolation
is one of the heaviest punishments, adn its illegal implementation is serious crime.

As Kaos GL Association, we call all relevant national and international institutions,
expecially the prison administration, to fullfill the rights of Diren Coskun and fullfill
their duties to meet her demands. Diren Coskun is not alone!"

Watch the tenants from our dispute with G4 Lets explain that an Environmental Health
Report shows that G4Lets neglected their legal decoration, fire, and pest control duties,
then charged the tenants for decoration, fire, and pest control. ---- For the past four
months, two groups of tenants have been organising with us after they collectively had
£3000 withheld from their deposits at the end of their tenancies. G4Lets have largely
maintained the legitimacy of these deductions throughout this dispute, even selectively
quoting from an Environmental Health Report to claim that it supported them in this
matter. The tenants in one of these disputes have now obtained a copy of this report, and
it shows precisely the opposite. The report, delivered to director of G4Lets Mark Shields
before the tenants moved out, states: 'I am writing to remind you that as an owner/manager
of a shared house the above Management Regulations place a duty on you to, among other
things, maintain the property in good order. During my inspection I noted fire precaution
issues, a mouse infestation, poor decoration and disrepair. This represents an offence
under the regulations'.

The report then goes on to stipulate works that G4Lets are responsible for carrying out to
remedy these issues. Not only did G4Lets proceed to charge the tenants for these problems
(on behalf of a landlord living in a £1.5m house) - most of which preceded these tenants'
tenancy, as evidenced in a ten-page document that they have provided to G4Lets - G4Lets
have also not even carried out all of the stipulated works.

For four months, G4Lets have selectively quoted from this report, in the full knowledge
that it places the responsibility for these matters with them, and refused to refund these
tenants' deposit. In response to this blatant deception, we have started a pledge amongst
lecturing and support staff at the Higher Education institutions in the city. For
students' own good, staff are pledging to actively inform them not to use such a
duplicitous agency until they refund these deposits and address the issues raised. If you
work at one of the Higher Education institutions in the city and wish to sign this pledge,
you can do so here: https://goo.gl/forms/GfZd4tutqHcazgx92

If you are a tenant with G4Lets and you want to join or support the campaign - if you need
some advice on a current situation or if you just want to help these tenants out, you can
contact us at housing@brightonsolfed.org.uk.

Our campaign continues - an injury to one is an injury to all!
