The Stonewall rebellion consisted of a series of insurgency practices that took place in
Greenwich Village, New York, and was the cause of the police raid at the Stonewall Inn gay
bar during the early hours of June 28, 1969. The subjects of the rebellion, because they
are homosexuals, lesbians, and transgender people, resist the police violence and
repression suffered in the broader socio-political field as an established (and lasting)
reality against them. The events unfolding on the streets of New York are considered
crucial to the upgrading and development of the organization of the American and
international homosexual movement.
Stonewall's events represent a time-critical moment in which oppressed homosexuals
appropriately assert their rights and visibility, reflecting the influence of more or less
radical social-political movements (or outbursts) of the 1960s, such as for example, the
student battles of the University of Berkeley, the Vietnam War, the black power movement,
the so-called second wave of feminism, the hippies subculture, the Harlem uprising, etc.
In the wake of the rebellion, dozens of LGBTQ organizations are formed that openly
encourage homosexuals not to hide their sexual identity, challenge frontal anti-homosexual
laws and prejudices, and propagate active participation in struggle initiatives.
This new movement of the LGBTQ movement involves a very large portion of people who
address the issue of homosexuality under its political and social dimension.
The Stonewall rebellion, therefore, has crystallized something that was already in the
process of evolution: the inclusion of the issue of sexual preferences as a political
issue rather than as a subjective (and according to the dominant state and religious

anyone else, prevents the pride from developing a real struggle for equality and freedom.
This request states that, in fact, the aim is to integrate into existing society and the
existing system. Something that otherwise is wrong, based on our own analysis, because we
will only be free and equal in a non-class society. Still, Athens Pride's last year's
request for the education of society is fully compatible with the above. So it is a
depoliticisation through a specific political ideology - that of liberalism today - that
can not and does not want to cover our need to talk and fight together the multiple forms
of oppression we accept,
All of this, of course, does not concern all prides, as there are some, like Patras and
Crete, as well as ongoing efforts in Athens, which seek to at least eliminate the
institutional features by operating in a self-organized way.
Their potential for revolutionary prospects
The pride is the moment of the Stonewall uprising. The importance of maintaining our
collective memory is beyond all meaning. Nevertheless, any such movement must learn its
history and draw from it the conclusions that concern it today so that every struggle of
it makes sense to lead to the pursuit of all of us: to be all free.
Conversely, therefore, in the partialness of the demands, which only in deadlock can lead
the struggles, to aggregate our analysis. Put the individual oppressions on the widespread

Bearing down on insurrectionist groups, the Italian State is using its organised crime
units to cast a wide net and pressure anarchists nationwide. In this article by Naples
activists, they look at the failed attempt at a "precautionary arrest" of 20 alleged
members of the Informal Anarchist Federation and the chilling effects of an investigation
which has encompassed wide swathes of the libertarian movement. The latest initiative was
launched less than a month after the start of the linked Scripta Manent trial of alleged
Informal Anarchist members for various arsons and at least one kneecapping of a CEO. ----
The pacification of political movements has led to the almost total disappearance from our
society of any revolutionary aspiration, replaced with a frenetic rush to occupy the warm
and comfortable seats that power offers. This has led to a fierce struggle, often without
quarter, to follow the latest politician, who is raised to rank of political revolutionary
in order to guarantee "antagonistic" politicians in an area of political acceptability
within the institutions.
As a result we witness the voluntary cancellation of any form of opposition in favor of
co-operation and often collaboration with a political system that until recently was
considered hostile. All these elements represent tangible facts that have negative
repercussions on what remains of the revolutionary, movement, or or insurrectionist if you
prefer.
In a similar context, the last pockets of resistance, those who persist in considering the
destruction of this political and economic system as unavoidable, can be identified and
attacked more easily by the repressive apparatus of the State. The huge amount of
resources that the police and magistracy are able to call upon can be used entirely and
with minimal resistance to annihilate a social enemy that now has increasingly reduced
space to maneuver in.
Specifically, the anarchist movement is the one hardest hit by this repressive attack
launched by the State. All this has been made possible by the widescale use of so-called
criminal association laws (originally intended to deal with organised crime) that have
continuously been adapted to the socio-political structure of the movement.
At present, dozens of comrades are facing prison sentences, are imprisoned or under house
arrest, and just as many are subject to various forms of precautionary measures such as
signing on, residential restrictions, special surveillance, etc. An unknown number,
certainly very high, are also under investigation by various prosecutors scattered
throughout Italy. Among these the Naples prosecutor, who has been struggling for years
without much success to make his own infamous contribution, made his voice heard at the
beginning of December.
Following two investigations from 2010 and 2011, now brought together in one proceeding,
the arrest of 20 anarchists was requested. The investigators hypothesised the existence of
a cell, active in Naples and with connections to Greece and Spain, linked to the Informal
Anarchist Federation and that the publications La Miccia, Invece, Blasphemia and the blog
Arraggia are propaganda tools the organisation uses to publish their communiques and
claims of responsibility.
The accusation against them all is "subversive association" and, for one comrade, specific
crimes concerning the possession and use of explosives. Furthermore, the precautionary
closure of the Libertarian Studies Center was requested, which since the 1970s has hosted
the Louise Michel anarchist group and the 76A anarchist space, which they consider to be
logistical bases of the Naples cell.
The author of the investigation is prosecuting magistrate Catello Maresca from the
District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA), who became famous for having arrested several
bosses linked to the Casalesi family. Now, after his eight-year involvement in anti-mafia
investigations, he has been moved to anti-terrorism and has decided that in order to
maintain his style that he will now pursue the anarchists.
Like many other magistrates he takes delight in writing books in which he describes to us
mere mortals the "very important" operations he has completed. In one of these he
collaborated with journalist Leandro Del Gaudio, who is well known to us because he often
used the liberal newspaper he writes for, Il Mattino, to sling mud at the Naples
anarchists. And Leandro has not been shy about divulging news regarding the proceedings
against the anarchists, no doubt prompted by his friend Catello is order to seek maximum
media visibility.
The investigation is still open so as of yet we have not had the opportunity to read the
huge volume of paperwork concerning the procedure that is available to us (the only
request from the Prosecuting Magistrate has delivered more than 1,500 pages). We don't

has appealed because he can't accept anybody being allowed to question the work that he
has so diligently carried out. One of the brightest stars of the firmament of our
inquisitors does not tolerate defeats, so it seems likely that he will not give up until
the end.
Beyond all reasoning, experience teaches us that one of the main objectives of these types
of operations is to disintegrate, if not to eradicate, a group of active comrades from the
territory in which it acts.
In our case they have been mistaken in their calculations. We are not going to retreat one
single step. We will continue our political and existential journey in the face of those
who would like us to be mute and submissive.

So if we do not want to joke, if the cultural clubs want to showcase Macedonia's "cultural
heritage", let us organize an international festival with the Macedonian music and dance
clubs to exchange cultural narratives and stimuli and leave the gatherings with the Nazis.

on the streets of Thessaloniki. The movement and the anarchists will have to respond to
fascism and the nationalist threat more before it finds wider audiences and fans.

An overview of the important links and differences that exist between anarchism and
marxism. ---- The speaker is Alan MacSimoin. ---- Alan MacSimoin has been active in the
anarchist and trade union movements for over forty years. In 1984 he was one of the
founders of the Workers Solidarity Movement, and was a member for the following twenty
seven years. Among the struggles he participated in were campaigning against social
partnership in the unions, winning the legalization of both contraception & divorce,
fighting against household taxes, and stopping the nuclear plant in Wexford. He was one of
the organisers of the big 1992 "X-case" demonstration in Dublin, when a 14 year old rape
victim was ordered by the High Court not to leave Ireland in order to obtain an abortion.
In recent years he has been involved in many more campaigns including the successful
anti-water tax movement which help put a brake on the imposition of austerity in Ireland
in the aftermath of the 2008 financial meltdown. He helped to set up the popular
Stoneybatter & Smithfield Peoples History Project, and also administers the online Irish
Anarchist History Archive.

Students have occupied a section of the London College of Communication (UAL) the night
before the Delancey's plan for redevelopment of the Elephant & Castle shopping centre and
London College of Communication campus goes to planning. ---- Gentrification has ripped
through London, pricing students and working class people - particularly BME people - out
of their communities. ---- Elephant & Castle is home to Walworth residents, a large Latin
American community, traders and UAL students. This community is under threat from the
proposed Delancey development of hundreds of new luxury apartments with only 3% ‘fake'
social housing (by the company's own, flawed definition) and 10% affordable retail units.
And if any more proof was needed that this is about profit and not developing the area for
the people who live and work there, it's the fact Delancey, a gigantic property firm
managed offshore that pays no UK taxes, are set to pocket £154 million from the development.
The relocation guarantees currently offered by Delancey to local traders and independent
business people operating in the area are totally insufficient, and no adequate offers of
compensation have been offered to those that cannot wait for new premises, such as market
stalls across the city. In addition, the consequences of closing the Bingo- the heart of a
community of hundreds of elderly people - will be cruel and catastrophic. Students will
also be amongst the worst affected by the gentrification of Elephant and Castle, as the
cost of rent and local commercial outlets will soar.
This is social cleansing, and UAL are complicit - directly benefiting from the development
which will give the university permission to build a new LCC building while raising no
objections to the consequences of Delancey's plans, and the consistent lack of
transparency and shutting out of residents and traders throughout this process.
This is far from the first time there've been plans to demolish the Elephant shopping
centre, or far from the first time big businesses have claimed to operate under the guise
of progress and improving the lives of people in Southwark. The issue here isn't our
opposition to improving LCC or even to the construction of a new building, but instead
about the effects of gentrification on the local community. UAL must come out in
opposition to this outrageously offensive proposal, call for planning to be pushed back
until proper effort is given to genuine transparency and meaningful involvement from the
community and push for 100% real social housing, more affordable rental units and
guarantee that the bowling alley and bingo centre will stay.
Let's make sure LCC remains the London College of Communication and not the London College
of Gentrification.

Today, January 13, 2018 left us Donato Romito, national secretary of Alternativa
Libertaria and militant anarchist communist. Master and trade unionist has strongly
influenced the social and political life of the province of Pesaro and Urbino, joining in
time a strong training activity, a refined sensitivity of movement and teaching history,
as well as an intense and tireless activity trade union, in CGIL first, and in Unicobas
then, such as to consider it a point of reference for the entire anarchist movement and
for the left of this territory. ---- The burning room will be open at the hospital in
Muraglia (Pesaro) on Sunday 14th in the afternoon and Monday 15th in the afternoon.
The companions of Alternativa Libertaria / FdCA invite those who want to greet Donato to a
secular ceremony that will take place on Saturday, January 20 at 3 pm at the Cimitero
dell'Ulivo di Fano.

Political biography
Donato Romito was born in Bari in 1954.
He made his first political experiences in the student movement of the late 60s and early
70s, participating in the school occupations and collectives of the time.
He approached anarchism in 1973 and came into contact with the Bari anarchist communist
group of the OAP (Pugliese Anarchist Organization), at the turn of the release of this
from FAI (Italian Anarchist Federation).
He began working as a temporary teacher in primary school and was active in the city
coordination of the precarious school, before becoming a permanent teacher in 1976.
It gradually became one of the protagonists of the construction of the NOW (Anarchist
Revolutionary Organization), first in Puglia and then in the national period in the period
between 1976 and 1985.
At the end of the 70s he enrolled in the CGIL-school union.
In the early 80s he moved to the Marches in Pesaro, where he came into contact with
anarchists of the dissolved OAM (Anarchist Organization of the Marches) with whom he
founded the Anarchist Communist Coordination of Pesaro / Fano, then Circolo Culturale
Napoleone Papini di Fano since 1985 .
With the Circolo Papini he will organize for a decade the Fano editions of the
Anticlericale Meeting, of which he will be in charge of public relations and coordinator
of the debates.
In 1985 he represented the ORA in the process of unification with the UCAT (Union of the
Anarchist Communists of Tuscany), which in 1986 led to the birth of the Federation of
Anarchist Communists (FdCA).
In the same year he joined the FdCA national secretariat, to which he will be re-elected
in the 3rd congress (1992), in the 4th (1994), in the 5th (1997), in the 7th congress of
2006 and in the 9th congress in 2014.
Also in 1986 he joined the provincial executive of the CGIL-school of Pesaro, from which
he will be released in 1993.
He is one of the promoters of the birth of the ALP (Workers Workers Association of Pesaro)
in 1994.
In 1995, together with young anarchists of the Circolo Papini, he founded the FdCA section
of Pesaro / Fano, which opened a branch in 1996 in the historic center of the city.
In the '80s and' 90s he held an intense social activity in Pesaro, becoming a member of
the MCE (Movement of Educational Cooperation), member of the provincial executive of the
Historical Institute of the Resistance; he is elected several times in the School Council
of his school and in the District Scholastic Council in the lists of the CGIL.
In Pesaro, with the FdCA it promotes the construction of the Network for Self-management
that gathers the basic political and social bodies of the province of Pesaro, whose press
organ will be the bulletin "Contaminazione".
He teaches history teaching (first for the MCE then for CLIO '92), participates as a
speaker in various initiatives of the anarchist movement.
At the end of the 1990s he joined the basic syndicalism and in Pesaro he opened - along
with other teachers - the seat of the provincial federation of Unicobas, in whose lists he
was repeatedly elected union representative in his school. With Unicobas, it promotes
several occasions in the Marches for the coordination of regional basic trade unionism.
In 2001 he published for the "Quaderni di Alternativa Libertaria" the essay "The Fifth

followed in 2003 "The Italian base unions", essay for the monthly "North American
Anarchist" on the basic syndicalism in Italy http://www.fdca.it/sindacale/cobas.htm .
From 2008 to 2011 he assumes the post of president of Pesaro Nuovomondo, an association
of Italian citizens and immigrants who prints the newspaper of the same name.
In 2010 he became responsible, on behalf of the FdCA, of the "Franco Salomone"
Documentation Center opened in Fano, for which he edited the publication between 2011 and
2013 of books on the life of Franco Salomone, on the libertarian left in Bari in the years
70 and on the Anarchist Groups of Proletarian Action-GAAP. His last activity was the
translation of the essay by Malcom Archibald on the figure of the atamansha (military
commander) Marusya Nikiforova during the period of the Russian Revolution, as well as
curator of Anarkismo.net for Italy and the Office of Alternativa Libertaria.
In 2012 he participated in the international anarchist meeting of St.Imier on his 140th
anniversary, where he represented the FdCA in the third European conference and in the
first intercontinental conference of the Anarkismo network.
