Dear friends,
Many of our supporters have told me that they feel overwhelmed by the enormity of the human rights challenges we face now.
The fights we’re taking on are tough, yes. But they must be fought. And we need your help.
When you invest in Amnesty International, your support can mean the difference between life and death for someone — a person with hopes, dreams and fears — just like you. That’s what gets me out of bed every day. And that’s why people like you continue to stand strong during challenging times.
Right now, Amnesty is advocating for people who militaries and governments would silence and seek to oppress:
  • We’re demanding the Myanmar military immediately stop its crimes against humanity, including its campaign of ethnic cleansing against the Rohingya people, and allow unfettered access to humanitarian aid.
  • We’re calling for an immediate and comprehensive arms embargo on all parties to the conflict in Yemen to ensure that the U.S. does not supply weapons, munitions, military equipment and technology that can be used to attack Yemeni civilians.
  • We’re demanding that Turkish authorities drop all charges against Amnesty Turkey Director Idil Eser, Amnesty Turkey Board Chair Taner Kılıç, and nine other human rights defenders who have been arrested on the absurd charge of “membership of a terrorist organization.”
Amnesty started not just with outrage, but with courage to do something about it.
Sincerely,
Margaret Huang
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL USA
P.S. Amnesty takes no funding from governments for our research and campaign work. We rely on donors like you. Donate today and your gift will be tripled.
