For the past few weeks Brighton SolFed and friends have been supporting a tenant that got
evicted with a week's notice! ---- The tenant, a Spanish immigrant that doesn't speak
English at all, had been living in a sub-letted shared room with an other sub-lettee in
deplorable conditions of mold. Solidarity Federation helped mediating with the live-in
sub-letter, but they refused any facilitation of eviction and responded by violently
scaring the tenant to leave the property. After a huge show of support in front of the
landlord's flat - where almost 20 members and friends turned up to help - temporary
accommodation was found for the tenant. ---- The sub-letter still refuses to open
communication with Brighton SolFed, even to retrieve the flat's keys. They haven't
acknowledged the physical and psychological abuses. Abuse of poor and vulnerable tenants
is not uncommon. We should organise to respond to those abuses!

A directive on the extension of intellectual property is being discussed in the European
Parliament, which would have the effect of increasing user control and restricting free
cultural practices. ---- The copyright law is a gas factory of the right of the property,

Prince, the most translated book and the 5 th best selling in the world [3]. The author
died " for France " in 1944: the French side is the jackpot for the rights holders,
because the work will be released in 2045 (100 after his death instead of the usual 70 !
), but on the Belgian side, anyone can freely give access to this work.
For the defense and the extension of the public domain
To cope with these contradictions, the European Parliament, pushed by France, chooses to
reinforce the control rather than to release the rights. The most controversial article in
its directive is that requiring " big " internet platforms to carry out a priori (and
no longer a posteriori ) controls on content posted online, making them judges in a field
where, one As we have seen, freedom remained until we were caught. For the realization of
these controls, these platforms will have to install robots which will mechanically sort
the legal contents and the others. What about our pastiches and our bootleg ? Will the
robot have a sense of humor ? Nothing is less sure. And free platforms, wiki turning
without money because not generating advertising revenue, will they be forced to pay the
robotic services of rich predators to implement the directive, because they will not have
the means to create their own robots ? Another innovation of the directive: the creation
of a neighboring right for the publishers of press which will reinforce of course their
weight vis-a-vis the authors and allow them to claim, among others, a part of the
redistribution for private copy [4](RCP ) previously reserved for authors only. Last but
not least, the directive significantly enhances the role of national heritage agencies,
which suddenly have all-round mediation powers.
In the limited space that remains to us, what to do ? For the authors, if we understand
the need to provide them with an income giving them the right to autonomy from publishers
or broadcasters, the practical implementation of the law does not erase the capitalist
logic. On the contrary, like any property, copyright favors accumulation in the hands of
those who already have it. And very often, the heritage side of copyright applies without
the authors. Thus, would the redistribution of remuneration for authors not be more
equitable and more stable if it were not indexed on the exploitation of the property but
more simply on the work? ? Would this not solve all the conflicts resulting from the
confrontation of the free contents of the amateurs to those paying professionals while
leaving the free field to the creation ?
For users and users, escaping this corset could go through the support for free platforms
and new co-operatives of authors (Romainelubrique.org or Amicaledeproduction.com among
others) that are created for the defense and the extension the public domain and for the
proposal of works that come out of the field of individual property. For, nevertheless,
many know that works do not come to them from heaven, that they are imbued with the
culture of all and all, and that which precedes them, that they are so collective that
they do not belong to no one but the people.

A reflection on the protest interpro of November 16, held despite the difficulties to

On September 18, 2017, the Aromalab employee, housed in Oraiokastro, Thessaloniki, was
fired off for reasons of vengeance, abusive and foreign to her work. The worker was
employed by the company as a chemist by contract with an office worker and was obliged to
perform a series of work that did not correspond to the scheme under which he was
recruited, both as a chemist and even as an office worker. When the employer required it,
among other things, to carry out the cleanliness of communal or non-premises premises of
the company (toilets, kitchens, employers' offices etc. ) the employee defended her right
as well as all of her colleagues in failing to do so as they did not correspond to their
contracts and after a rational reason was dismissed. She was dismissed not because she was
not good at her job, since even when the dismissal was notified, the company made sure she
was happy with her job but because she was reluctant, unresponsive and obnoxious as she
had objected to the demands of the employer realization of cleanliness.
The next day the employee denounces the invalid and abusive dismissal of the labor
inspection, and at the meeting set up on her 20/11, the employer is placed on the matter
on an entirely different basis by presenting the dismissal in the light of the lack of
performance, teamwork, due diligence of the job very clearly "forgetting" the real causes
and words that had been told to the worker at the release of the dismissal. Besides, these
were not convenient for the company before the labor inspection. When they even wondered
who finished the cleanliness of the premises, the employer replied that she did it (!) And
simply advised the employees to keep the premises clean.
Of course, the example of Aromalab is not the only one, but it is added in turn to the
countless examples of employers' arbitrariness that make up today's working reality. A
reality, which requires working-minded people to be paid with hunger wages or to remain
unpaid, to work on exhausting hours, to work on Sundays, to be sacrificed to workers'
chambers with incomplete security measures - with the latest example, the death of a 2nd
employee in a few months in the municipality of Zografou - to be tires and multipurpose
tools in the hands of employers, to live under the threat of unemployment, to fear to
defend themselves and to claim their rights or accrual angry because they will be fired
and eventually can be fired depending on the appetites of every employer.
Against the galley conditions that have been imposed, there are many encouraging examples
of resistance and struggle, such as those of public employees in Patras and Kalamata, who
claim their accrued income by condemning the degrading working conditions imposed on them,
the former employees of Market in Ioannina claim their accruals while at the same time the
relevant strike action is struck by the suppression forces leading to arrests of the
workers at Lysimachos Saraf in Thessaloniki, who remain unpaid. For our part, we can only
stand solidarity with the workers and fight alongside them for a life of dignity.
