The Mazda MX-6 


Ford's relationship with Mazda goes back to the 1970's, at one stage holding a 33% stake in the Japanese company. That has led to many partnerships which seem to have been beneficial to both parties, which would be why it lasted so long. Part of that cooperation involved the North American market.

Mazda wasn't really big enough to take on a US assembly plant on its own, so it
