Eight months pregnant and forced to flee

Dear friends,
One mother of two fled over to Greece eight months pregnant. After giving birth in a refugee camp, she found herself homeless in Athens. Her baby was afflicted with skin allergies and asthma, while she suffered panic attacks and gynecological problems. Another woman arrived six months pregnant, all alone, in horrible psychological condition. These are just a couple examples of what a recent report finds to be a widespread lack of maternity care for refugees in Europe.
We are talking about refugees who have already faced the unbearable burden of having to flee their homes due to violence. They don't deserve further cruelty or neglect. They deserve safety and compassion.
It is our humanitarian responsibility to provide care to pregnant refugees and new mothers. If these families stand a chance, there is simply no other alternative.
Thank you,
 Alex B.
