Why fight back?

Well, this is embarrassing. In an email sent earlier today, I said I was in Nairobi for Pride Uganda. This, of course, is not true, as Nairobi is in Kenya. I was in Kampala for Pride Uganda last month. My sincere apologies for this mistake!
All Out is in Nairobi more frequently, as we've been running trainings for young LGBT activists from the surrounding region on online campaigning. Nairobi was on my mind!
I want to let you know that we care deeply about the emails we send you and try our best to make sure they are of the highest quality. But sometimes we make mistakes!
Thanks again for going All Out and apologies for the confusion.

Corrected email:
-------------------

Dear friends,
Last month, I was in Nairobi for Pride Uganda. Thanks to the crowdfunded support from All Out members, our Ugandan partners had enough funds to put on a week of events.
But Simon Lokodo – a notoriously homophobic government minister – hunted down and personally threatened the safety of the organisers. So Pride was cancelled.
Activists on the ground were crushed. We called on All Out members like you again. Thousands of you sent personal messages of solidarity to our partners.
One of the organisers of Pride Uganda told me these messages meant so much to them. It reminds them that they're not alone and gives them the courage to keep fighting. In fact, they're more determined than ever.
This is why I fight back. So we can continue to stand strong beside our friends in Uganda. So LGBT activists don't have to risk their lives to celebrate Pride. So homophobes in power can't take a single step against our community without knowing that we're watching.
But we can't keep up this fight alone. All Out is just ten people working nonstop to connect these activists to people like you. That's why Equality Champions – our monthly donors – are so incredibly important. We literally rely on their support every single month as we plan our campaigns.
As our thanks to you, we'll send you this "Fighting Back" tote bag for free.

We're more powerful than people like Lokodo because we have you on our side, Luc. All Out members live in more than 100 countries around the world. In the past year, you've powered dozens of campaigns for activists in places like Russia, Tunisia, Taiwan, and Uganda.
And there are at least a dozen more fights we want to take on this year. But that just can't happen without enough support to keep our campaigns and technical infrastructure running.
Equality Champions directly power every single All Out campaign. Ongoing monthly donations enable us to jump into action when local activists need our global support.
Equality Champions are the only ones that can equip us for the huge fights ahead. Fights like the historic battle for marriage equality in Australia that's been years in the making and is finally edging towards a vote in the coming months. We can make a real difference for our partners on the ground, but not without your support.
We'll send you a free "Fighting Back" tote bag, as our thanks to you.
