Chris King & the Firebirds are continuing their 2017 Memory Lane Tour by returning to all the venues where they played to packed houses throughout the summer, and adding some new ones. The group - consisting of Chris King, Johnny Black, Stan the Man on drums and recent addition Johnny Mac - are well-known at the western end of the island. The Cyprus Weekly reviewed the Firebirds’ inaugural show in June and called them ‘the rock’n’roll masters of Cyprus’ for their infectious, vibrant interpretation of all the music greats. The show has one mission: to bring rock’n’roll into the 21stcentury! It does this by way of a dynamic three-part journey; to start - classic rock and roll from the 50’s and 60’s; Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis & Buddy Holly to name but a few. Then into the 70’s and 80’s, including Cliff Richard, Shaking Stevens and Showaddywaddy. The third set brings the audience into the 21stcentury with new numbers written by songwriter/musician, Johnny Black, especially for this Firebirds tour of Cyprus, including the now exceedingly popular ‘Rocking on the Island of Love’. Chris King and The Firebirds are an original band, writing and producing their own brand of rock music for this century; adding something new for the original rock’n’roll generation of fans and also bringing the whole package to the younger generation to help keep rock and roll alive forever.
