McDonalds workers at branches in Cambridge and Crayford in S.E. London are set to strike
on Monday Sept 4th 2017. This will be the first ever strike at a UK branch. ---- Many
McDonalds workers actually struggle to feed and house themselves on minimum wage, and a
whopping 96% of those balloted voted to strike for £10.00-an-hour. They are also demanding
an end to what are effectively zero-hours contracts and generally outrageous working
conditions, including informal penalties for joining a union. ---- This is an incredibly
brave action. It is not a strike in which well-represented workers with secure contracts
and strike pay can flex their muscle collectively and prove that the bosses can't do
without them. It is a strike by those left literally with no other choice in one of the
least secure and most exploitative sectors of employment. But even this sector can make
gains for workers if there is enough solidarity for them and if they organise in radical
ways. In the UK and US the Industrial Workers of the World, Anarcho-Syndicalist unions and
other non-hierarchical and worker-led organisations have made gains by standing strong.
Pressure already being put on McDonalds has meant that they now technically now offer
workers a choice of flexible or fixed-hours contracts, although many workers apparently
did not even know that this was the case until it was ‘announced' after the strike ballot
took place.

In the US the demand is for $15.00 and similar action is being taken on Monday too, which
is Labor Day. For IWW analysis

So please go down to support McDonalds workers if you can. Show them that they can rely on
more radical support than they will undoubtedly get through their union, the Bakers, Food
and Allied Workers Union. Or picket your local branch to show solidarity for others
considering striking, as is happening in many towns https://fastfoodrights.wordpress.com/

It seems that nothing is accidental in the last period in Europe. The black conference in
Estonia, the historic washing machine of the most aggressive form of capitalist history in
history, a conference in which Germany participated, appears to be part of a much wider
agenda. ---- The demotivation of the German repressive machine during the protests for the
G20 meeting in Hamburg was probably the drop that overflowed the glass for the ambitious
imperialism that is leading the EU economically. Radicals from all over the world who
gathered in the German city gave a a bitter lesson in the greatness of repression. They
gave a warning: the world of the fight is here, fighting and intransigent, lifting the
glove to the dystopian plans of the new totalitarianism. It is not the national states
that raise their heads, but forces directly from the social base of all states. Minority
votes for the time, but minorities that do not intend to remain such.

The new capitalist totalitarianism responded. And he did what he always does when he finds
an opponent: without any shame, he gets rid of the mantle of democracy. Urban fairy tales
about freedom of speech, the myth of "open society," are nothing more than propaganda
speeches that are projected only when they have no danger to power. Now they have it.
Linksunten.indymedia.org, an information and radical critique node, accepted the German
state's assault. The site was closed for the time being, those who functioned it were
terrored, even the media logo was forbidden.

At the same time, the German state totally "accidentally" launches new stories from the
time of the armed RAF organization 40 years ago. The narrative of "extremist risk from the
left" is shaped by specific repressive acts and attempts to be legalized by the resentment
of the terrorism of the 1970s. No prototype, the extreme right-wing infection is the same
whether it speaks German or Estonian or Greek. Not at all, the AFD fascists in Germany
welcomed the closing of the media. Not at all, various extreme right-wing trash throughout
Europe (of course in Greece) did the same. The theory of the two extremes was also a lie.
The regime, from social democracy to the Nazis, forms its front. The right joins as the
American Nazis demand in Charlottesille.

The battle to keep silent linksunten.indymedia.org continues and nothing has yet been
decided. The fight for freedom of speech, inside and outside the Internet, is coming to a
new stage. The oppressed must realize that in fact we have no right in bourgeois society.
Everything is conditional upon whether state and capital feel confident of their absolute
sovereignty. The only rights we have are the ones we win with our punches. The sooner we
understand it, the better our position will be in the battles with the new totalitarianism
that comes.

The 6th annual March for Choice takes place September 30th in Dublin and once more we are
bringing together an anarchist bloc for the march - join us on the day. ---- It's going to
be an important march as the government have promised a referendum next year but have not
yet announced a date or indeed what we will actually be allowed to vote on. There is a
real danger that rather than a vote to delete the 8th Amendment they will seek to replace
it with text that would still seek to deny bodily autonomy and allow abortion access in
very restricted circumstances. ---- Some 12 people a day are forced to travel to access
abortion and more use pills at home under the theoretical threat of a 14 year jail term.
The danger is that many of these people would still be unable to access abortion and
pregnant people would continue to find the 8th amendment denied them control in their own
pregnancy.

We will be meeting up at the march start point at 1.30 at Parnell SQ, just look out for
the Red & Black flags. Before this from 12 noon we are having a meetup in our center at
Jigsaw which is nearby at 10 Belvedere Court, a chance for old hands and new faces to meet
and chat over tea or coffee before heading down together.

Help us build by asking your friends and sharing this event to your profile.

The March is bring organised by the Abortion Rights Campaign who say

"The theme of our March this year is Time to Act!

"The Citizens' Assembly report shows us the Irish people are pro-choice. We are ready for
change.

"The movement to repeal the 8th Amendment from the Irish constitution has gone from
strength to strength. In March, Strike4Repeal saw thousands of people occupy O'Connell
Bridge, and march on the Dail in the evening, with countless more on the streets in cities
around Ireland and abroad, showing that the issue of abortion rights is not going away....

Join us on September 30th to make your pro-choice voice heard, this is your last chance
before a referendum is called."
