Parkland Social Justice Club leading a rally Wed. afternoon ---- On September 7, the
police assaulted 19-year-old Parkland College student Oluwatobi Mordi, who goes by the
name Toby. According to a statement by the Parkland College Social Justice Club, Toby was
in the cafeteria waiting for his ride, when two white Parkland Police officers approached
him and proceeded to question him. After he complied with a request to give them his ID,
they falsely accused him of lying about his identity. At that point the officers grabbed
Toby to arrest him. Toby broke free of the officers and ran, at which point a foot-chase
scene which bystanders filmed, and which has over a million views on social media, broke
out in the cafeteria. It ended with a white student knocking Toby to the ground and then
the police charging in and beating Toby with a club repeatedly before handcuffing him and
taking him to jail. Another white person can be seen holding the door shut so Toby could
not get out. It was a classic US American case of self-deputized white vigilantes and
police officers instinctually working together to hurt a black youth. As the saying goes,
cops and Klan work hand in hand.

UIUC Students bake sale to support Toby

The right-wing mainstream local newspaper the News Gazette ran a story in which they
further criminalized Toby, published a picture of Toby's police mugshot, and regurgitated
the police narrative word for word without even talking to Toby or any of the students or
faculty who support him. The News Gazette has a history of serving unofficially as the
propaganda arm of the police department. Black students and faculty members, the Parkland
Social Justice Club, and a few local organizations such as Black Lives Matter -
Champaign-Urbana, the Graduate Employment Organization's Solidarity Committee, and a few
UIUC student groups such as the Black United Front, Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de
Aztlan, and Students for Justice in Palestine have organized fundraisers and a rally to
support Toby, and have criticized the Parkland Police and administration for long-standing
pattern of disrespect against black students, staff, and faculty. One of the hopeful
developments in the past weeks is increased solidarity and coordination between student
organizers at UIUC and Parkland. Some of the Parkland students and faculty who organized
or supported the permitted rally have been facing a white supremacist backlash and need
wider community support.

I attended the rally, and spoke with several of its organizers and participants, and it is
clear: Parkland College is a palpably repressive atmosphere right now. So many of the
white administrators, faculty, and students there ooze white supremacist attitude out of
their pores. The administration exercises such tight control over both students and
faculty. Being there I could see fear on the faces of people who disagree with the status
quo, fear of being associated with the radical "trouble-makers," and that fear is
rational. I know students and faculty who have been getting constantly harassed, followed,
and threatened by white administrators, faculty, and students because of their pro-black
politics.

A former Parkland teacher talking about the administration's pattern of disrespect against
black students and faculty

There is definitely a social class element to this. Unlike UIUC, a significant portion of
Parkland's student body is working class, not middle class, and there seems to be an
overseer-managerial attitude among white administrators and faculty that they need to
exercise strict control over the students. They send police into classrooms to pull
students out for minor behavioral issues. I've never seen such a thing happen to the
middle class students I've taught at UIUC. UIUC students have behavior issues too, but we
don't treat them as a law enforcement matter. We deal with it like human beings. If a cop
set foot in my classroom to target one of my students, I would be livid, and I know that
there are undergrad, grad student, and faculty organizations that would support me if I
were to get in trouble for trying to defend my students from the police.

A local Black Lives Matter organizer speaking about the larger context of white supremacy
that encourages harsh disciplinary measures against black students
At Parkland, white faculty seem comfortable, nay, eager to throw their black students into
the clutches of cops like a Praetorian Guard throwing raw meat to into a cage of starving
lions. White faculty and students instinctively side with the cops, without knowing any
facts of the case, but when black students and faculty stand up for the student, those
same white cop supporters suddenly demand to have "all the facts" of the case handed to
them on a silver platter so they can weigh the black victim of police violence's
"worthiness" to be treated as a human being. That's called white supremacy, when you
automatically consider the cops heroes without even knowing what's going on, but demand a
mountain of evidence before you can determine the black victim's worthiness of human concern.

"But if he's not guilty," the white supremacists stupidly ask, "then why did he run from
the police?" For white supremacists, it is inconceivable that the police, the modern-day
Slave Patrol, can do wrong. I don't know why he ran, but given the reality of what the
United States is - a white supremacist settler-colonizer empire - running from the police
is a perfectly rational response for many black and brown people. Maybe he ran because he
knows that the police kill black people in the United States on a daily basis for minor
infractions, and in some cases for no infraction at all. Maybe he ran because he knows
that black people in the United States die in police custody on a regular basis. Maybe he
knows about Richard Turner, a houseless black man who struggled with mental health and
drug issues, who died in the street in Champaign last November while surrounded by cops:
who died in a county that has defunded mental health and drug detox services while
increasing funding to law enforcement. Maybe he knows about Toya Frazier, Paul Clifton,
and Veronica Horstead, all who died needlessly last year in holding cells in the local
jail: all three poor, all three black, all three whose cases could have been approached
better as public health and economic justice issues than law enforcement issues. Maybe
Toby knows that the Champaign Police Department gave its 2014 Officer of the Year Award to
white police officer Jerad Gale, who raped at least four women. Maybe he knows about local
police Officer Matt "Mad Dog" Rush, who was so consistently brutal to black people that
the police chief fired him, yet the larger police community, represented by the local
police union, rallied behind "Mad Dog" and got him reinstated in 2015. Maybe he still
remembers 2009 when Champaign police murdered black 15-year-old Kiwane Carrington for no
good reason, for "breaking in" to his own house.

Maybe Toby ran because he knows that in the United States of America, the only time the
public cares about the police harassing black people is when there is a viral video to go
with it, and he needed to create enough of a spectacle that bystanders would film it. In
fact, if those videos were not shared on social media, it is quite likely none of us would
even know about it, let alone care enough to do something. The police would have taken him
to jail and Parkland would have continued functioning without facing the slightest
scrutiny. Maybe Toby ran because he was a scared teenager running for his life from armed
white men who meant to harm him. To automatically assume that running from the police
implies criminality is the height of mundane white supremacy. Maybe the police are the
criminals. There certainly is enough of a recent history of local police brutality and
abusive, unethical behavior for people to assume that the police doing the chasing, not
the person being chased, are the criminals.

Parkland College student Oluwatobi Mordi

Given the repressive atmosphere created by the Parkland administration, police, and the
far-too-many white faculty and students who are thoughtlessly complicit in perpetuating
the institution's white supremacist structure, it is extraordinary that resistance at
Parkland exists at all. While there is a lot of fear at Parkland, there is also a lot of
bravery: brave students in the Parkland College Social Justice Club and brave black
faculty members who support them in spite of the constant harassment and threats they are
receiving. They deserve community support. They deserve to be commended for shining a
light on the racist authoritarianism that the Parkland administration is now backpedaling
and playing mental gymnastics to cover up. Support Toby. Support the Parkland College
Social Justice Club.

On September 18, dozens of cities were scheduled to mobilize the resistance and memory of
the anti-phaseist Pavlos Fissa, who was murdered four years ago at Keratsini by the
gold-rusty Rupakia. In particular, the collectivity for social anarchism "Black and Red"
undertook the formation of an anarchist-anti-fascist bloc in Thessaloniki, within the
framework of a call by the Anarchist Political Organization-Federation of Collectives,
whose members-groups protested in the cities of Athens and Patras. an anarchist group
cumulonimbus organized a microphone concert in Corfu. ---- (link to poster and poster of
APO-OS:  http://apo.squathost.com/%CE%BA%CE%B1%CE%BB%CE%AD%CF%83%CE ... /  ) ---- The
journey from Kamara to Ag. Sophia and Tsimiski to the offices of the Athens Stock
Exchange. More than 350 protesters rallied in our college block. The banners featured:
"Fascism is killing in Europe and America. Crush the fascism and the system that gives
birth to it. "

There were anti-fascist slogans, slogans in favor of immigrants and internationalist
solidarity.

The attitude of EL.AS was the usual, thus forming the police forces, encircling the body
of the course, especially at the height of Tsimiski. Police in the city of Thessaloniki
prove the consistency of EL.AS and Minister Pro.PO Tosca in the repression of protests. A
typical example is the heavy injury of a 16-year-old in Athens, being arrested, resulting
in a critical condition being infiltrated to the KAT, and the detention of a 15-year-old
girl for 5 days in GADA.

The police corps continued from the Dodecanese, where they were lined with cages to
prevent the move to the fascist offices until Venizelos and Tsimiski.

The "Black and Red" college block, the second in the series of blocks that formed the body
of the course, accepted the police's assault on the contribution of the above roads. The
police's intent was to dismantle the block as well as collide with its organized
guardianship. This attack was apparently intended to injure the world as repression forces
were engaged in throwing straight flash shots and tears.

The MATs were attacked 2 times more and were successfully repulsed by the guardianship,
members of which were injured while fighting to ensure continued cluster march. Finally,
the course was steadily and steadily directed to Kamara and was completed.

This attack takes place within a framework where SYRIZA provides political coverage on the
Athens Stock Exchange and other fascist constructions either by making joint appearances
or by hitting the anti-fascist demonstrations with the MAT. By making it clear that the
state and the partisan go hand in hand. The fascist prize coincides with their legitimacy,
with the striking of collective resistances, with the threats and attacks on occupations,
hangouts, and the world of the struggle, with the depth of impoverishment and the
exacerbation of social oblivion. It comes with unbearable economic measures and employers'
terrorism, along with the murder of workers, along with the premium of large-scale and
large-scale businesses, with the looting of the natural world, with the continuation of
politics that makes immigrants and refugees invisible, which closes them in concentration
camps and kills them at the border. With the policy of "rational" management, which tries
to break the resistance, it seeks social peace and sets the foundations for class
collaboration. Clearly outlining that the current power administrators also impose
barbarity and oppression from below.

We do not forget that the yesterday's assault by the forces of repression follows the
assault our block received in the summer of 17 on the anti-fascist demonstration against
the concentration of the Sacred Lojo. The result of this was the injury of our comrades
and the vulgar repressive and sexist assault on our comrades. Attack, which follows the
attack on the anti-fascist demonstration in the White Tower, which is also captured by one
of our members.
We still do not forget the targeting of Mundo Nuevo in the summer of our conquest, the
threatening reports of evacuation from guerrilla parrots and our members' checks outside
the occupation.

Well, as much as you attack our block, our members and our comrades, whoever you conceive,
and you threaten us with evacuations, we have to say that you have to pass over us. We
have to say that WE WILL WIN.

DISCUSSION DOES NOT FEEL US.

WE ARE NOT LEAVING THE PAUL FISHA, SACHAT LOUKMAN, HADER HAGIER.

FROM THE OREOKASTRO, THE EPHETE IN ATHENS, SOFIA TO BOSTHONI, WE WILL KNOW THE FASHION AND
THE SYSTEM IN THE GENERATION.

In the febrile atmosphere of Catalonia's attempted independence referendum and repression
from Madrid, activists with the anarchist CNT union report that national police have been
shipped in from all over Spain and are holed up at Barcelona's port, seemingly in
preparation to crush any significant upheavals. ---- Dock workers with Portuaris CNT have
been tracking police movements in the Prince of Spain and Lepanto docks where three large
ferries have been spotted which appear to be acting as hubs for officers loyal to the
national PP (conservative) government. ---- Spanish President Mariano Rajoy has taken a
heavily repressive line with the regional Catalan govenment over plans to mount a what
Rajoy calls an illegal independence referendum on October 1st. Yesterday regional
administrative offices across Catalonia were raided and 14 people detained, sparking a
tense protest and standoff in Barcelona.

Madrid appears to be concerned about the loyalty of police on the ground, who are
administered by the Barcelona government and have reportedly been reluctant to crack down
hard on increasingly rowdy protests in the regional capital. A centrally-organised
presence of national guard operating out of the docks would appear to be the PP's standby
measure to quickly enforce control if events escalate.

In a particularly cynical move, dockworkers suspect that at least one of the boats has
been deliberately repainted to "throw off" inquiries by the international community:

The CNT in Catalonia as a whole has a complex relationship with the independence movement,
similar to that of other areas of Europe where the internationalist aspect of anarchist
politics runs into left-wing nationalist activism. As a tendency people tend to join the
CNT from an anti-nationalist perspective but are strongly opposed to the sort of police
oppression which has taken place over the last few days and will organise against measures
attacking civil liberties. In a statement yesterday CNT Barcelona said:

In light of the events that took place today, from the CNT Barcelona we want to show our
rejection of the repression inflicted, once again, by the Spanish State; seeing it as a
use of force against the most basic social rights which again reveals the true face of the
factual powers.

The working class will always keep the strength to overcome these authoritarian examples,
because it is this one that supports the attacks of the interests of the bourgeoisie. We
will not let ourselves fail in our intention to continue fighting and never, we will never
give up the defence of the most basic rights of the workers.

A two day mass phone-in to PJ Brown Construction has been organised to start on the
morning of Wednesday 27th of September and finish on the evening of Thursday 28th of
September. ---- PJ Brown Construction are one of the companies involved in the fracking
operations at Leith Hill in Surrey. ---- Spread the word ---- We are appealing to
international anti-fracking activists to spread the word about this mass phone-in
encourage people to politely express their disapproval of Brown Construction's involvement
in the fracking operations at Leith Hill so that the company will change their mind. ----
What is Fracking? ---- Fracking is a type of drilling used to extract fossil fuels (Oil
and Gas) from the ground, it involves drilling into a rock formation, then pushing in
large amounts of a water and chemical mixture (Fracking fluid) at high pressure to extract
oil or gas from the cracked rock formations.

Employees of the private sector, civil servants, precarious, unemployed, students or
retired, we are all in the spotlight of Macron's projects. How to build the "all together"
to stop the offensive of the bourgeoisie carried by the Macron government ? ---- Restoring
confidence in collective struggles ---- Nothing is worse than denying the difficulties.
The weight of unemployment and precariousness weighs on the vitality of the trade unions
in each enterprise and hinders the extension of strikes. The decline of combative militant
traditions goes hand in hand. In order to restore confidence in the strength of collective
struggle, we must learn the lessons of our failures in 2010 and 2016. First of all, let us
admit that large massive demonstrations and repeated strike days are no longer enough to
win. The challenge is therefore to build a permanent contestation, carried out every day
until victory. But how to reach the general strike in today's conditions ?

The spark

Sometimes it is the combativeness of a single professional sector or the educated youth
that comes the spark that drives everyone. From this point of view, the day of 21
September should be, wherever the balance of power permits, the beginning of a strike that
can be renewed in as many sectors as possible. But the spark is each and every one of us
who must carry it in his workshop, his service, his classroom, his office, his city. It is
not enough to sing the general strike for it to happen ; it is necessary to prepare and
organize it with his colleagues. And it starts with meetings, discussions, General
Assemblies. Regain the right to meet on working time with the beard of the boss or
executives who refuse the entrance to the canteen ... We are home! The first spark is
often a very small thing, a leaflet stuck on the coffee machine ...

Strike, blockage, sabotage

The day of strike is all too often wasted trampling behind the sandwich trucks. On the
contrary, it should be useful to reflect on the follow-up, the reinforcement and the
acceleration of mobilization, service by service, company by company. The opportunity of
AG in the industrial zones and in the cities to meet the employees of the other sectors,
and other unions. And when the balance of forces is too weak to declare the strike
renewable, the most energetic teams must imagine other modes of action: blockages,
filtering, slowing down and sabotage of economic activity.

Tract PDF to download
multiply

For a movement that includes all young people, precarious people, retired people ... there
must be General Assemblies by city, capable of stimulating all actions that can multiply
initiatives aimed at industrial zones and the major axes of transport. In the Paris
region, for example, should we not alternate the central events in Paris with days of
local events that would make it easier for colleagues who work and live far from the
capital ? Same thing in all regions ...

Self management

It is in these forms of collective management of struggles that each one takes confidence
and can invest, be useful. It is also the best school to make credible the project to
build a society rid of chiefs and bosses !

"The real challenge will be to implant democratic confederalism in the Raqqa region, where
the jihadists have succeeded in creating a popular base." ---- Alternative libertarian
reproduces the blog posts Kurdistan-Autogestion-Revolution , a travel diary of a fellow
committed to the YPG. ---- Over the course of the weeks, he will testify to the life of
the fighting militias, the debates that take place there and the experience of democratic
confederalism in the liberated areas. ---- Raqqa East Front, September 20, 2017 ----
Continued from my previous post. ---- Less than a quarter of an hour after the caravan of
fleeing jihadists left my field of vision, the town of Mansoura suddenly came alive again.
People came out of their house, found their neighbors, and began to walk around the
streets with caution. At first, wearing a white flag.

Shortly afterwards, the inhabitants and the inhabitants who had taken refuge on the
outskirts of the city in makeshift camps returned to find their homes. People seemed
happy. Difficult to know if it was because they were delivered from Daech or because the
fighting was over, without being too long or too destructive.

Some came to invite us to share the tea, or simply tell us how Daech treated them. It was
far from the majority. Most contented themselves with expressing their satisfaction by
greeting us when they passed not far from us. Difficult to disentangle what belonged to
the adhesion and the precautions that one takes with the conquerors.

Implementing democratic confederalism

We have an immense political responsibility for the liberated populations.

War is the continuation of politics by other means (Clausewitz, to be read !). Ultimately,
any military action has meaning only linked to a political objective. This is something
that the SDS has integrated. We have been told it fairly throughout our training: the real
challenge for the revolution will begin once Daech is defeated.

Now Daech is already virtually defeated. It is only a matter of time. The annihilation of
its troops is rather secondary, and that is why we have preferred to negotiate their
departure from Mansoura.

The real challenge will be to implant democratic confederalism in the Raqqa region, where
the jihadists have succeeded in creating a popular base.

If we succeed, not only will the revolution have taken a giant leap around an anti-state
and egalitarian society model, but we will have eliminated the soil favorable to a
possible resurgence of jihadism. From this point of view, the capture of Mansoura is a
master stroke. The FDS avoided maximum damage and civilian casualties, which showed the
population that we care about it. On the other hand, by limiting the urban fighting, we
preserved our troops, which was indispensable before the battle of Raqqa.

As for the Islamic state in Mansoura, it was beaten on several levels. First, he had to
give us a lot of equipment - tens of tons of explosives, tanks, and so on. Secondly, he
will not be able to count on the discontent of the population. Tertio, as his fighters
have chosen to save their lives, as ordinary mortals would have done, he will not be able
to produce his usual mystical narrative around martyrdom.
