Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc (Zanaco) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following job aimed at contributing to the Bank’s strategic vision, in the Digital Banking Divisionunder the Governance Department at Head Office:-
HEAD DIGITAL RISK & COMPLIANCE (X1)
JOB PURPOSE
This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining an effective control framework across the Digital Banking Division. Focusing on Operational Control, Compliance, Regulatory, Legal, Business Continuity and IT Disaster recovery, the Risk and Compliance Head will provide input into the Digital Banking Risk Forum and other key governance forums across the Bank.
Under the supervision of the Chief Digital Banking Officer, the following are among the Job Key Responsibilities:-
  • Managing the Digital Banking Division’s response and inputs into key Bank wide strategic initiatives.
  • Engaging experts to develop, maintain and enhance risk and compliance controls that support Digital Banking business objectives and risk appetite to enable delivery of the Digital Banking Division products and channels.
  • Working closely with all business units and support functions within Digital Banking to articulate holistic risk assessments of all Digital Banking projects and programmes.
  • Maintain and or develop a subject matter expertise in the area of digital innovation and subsequent emerging risks including mobile banking, internet banking, agency banking and merchants.
  • Design and implement effective risk management framework in the areas of onboarding of clients, agents and merchants and transactions of clients through mobile banking, E-Wallets, agent and merchant outlets and client acquisition by DSAs.
  • Conducting predictive analysis of perceived fraud at agent and merchant locations.
  • Working effectively and collaboratively within the Zanaco Risk Management Team for efficient and effective risk management processes and governance.
  • Adherence to operational controls, as outlined in procedures and policies to ensure risks are identified and managed.
  • Establishing and implementing the frame work of KYC compliance framework.
  • Coordinating with Head of Digital Development to conduct risk assessment of all technological enablement and all new functionalities.
  • Manage all risk, regulatory and compliance exposures and control weaknesses fully documenting and presenting them to all impacted stakeholders & the Digital Banking team
  • Manage all communication and training activity for the Compliance and Control team.
  • Manage all administration, actions and reporting for the Digital Banking Risk Forum, risk and compliance team and all other key channel Risk & Compliance forums and working groups.
  • Develop, monitor and track implementation of group-wide strategies, policies, systems and standards in order to manage, monitor and control risks.
  • Initiate and lead changes to systems, processes and working practices in order to achieve operational improvement.
  • Assist the Digital Banking team in embedding a risk culture that aligns and meets our obligations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement in risk management and associated areas.
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACT
  • External: Local Regulators.
  • Internal: All Divisions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Grade 12 Credit or above mandatory in Mathematics and English and any other three subjects.
  • Degree in a relevant field or professional qualification from a recognised university.
  • At least eight (8) years experience in risk management and/Digital Banking with three to five (3-5) years at management level.
  • Significant understanding of Risk areas inherent in providing banking products and services to individuals, particularly the emerging Fraud, Legal, Information Security and Financial Crime risks inherent in web based services.
  • Ability to both understand the detail of a digital solution from a risk perspective, as well as a strategic view on common risk themes and their effect on Digital Banking offerings.
  • Knowledge of financial technology trends and innovation for Digital Banking and mass scale banking.
