Vogue 9238 - Geometric Pattern Dress

Hello friends! I made two garments from Vogue9238.

I picked up Vogue 9238 sometime ago on sale. The pattern had three options (Top, dress and pants). At a glance, they look like cold shoulder in the drawing on the pattern envelope. However, they can be worn in two different styles - a cold shoulder and a sleeveless: The flounce is worn under the arms. The instructions were very easy to follow, but I made a lot of mistakes.

First, I made View A (Top) in a size 8-10; it's my normal size. For the bodice, I used a french tulle, which I think was a perfect match. I also used a black polyester-rayon blend for the shoulder and center bands, so the front and back bodices were added a black cotton instead of lining. It turned out to be a perfect fit, but I was worried about tearing between the center bands. When I wore it as a cold shoulder top, so they were pulled on the area. The parts of the center band were straight and supported by shoulder band. To keep the center bands, I applied a small interfacing on the wrong side. I decided to wear it as a sleeveless top.

Its length was too long for me, almost looked a tunic. I shortened the hem length by 3 inches and the center bands by 1 1/2inches. I will widen the armhole by at least one inch, next time.

Next, I made View B in the dress version. I wanted to wear it as a cold shoulder dress. I was worried about tearing between the center bands, so I decided to make a size 10 (One size bigger) and lengthened the shoulder band by 1 1/4 inches. It feels better and more comfortable when I wear it this way.

No no no! Σ(゚д゚ノ;)ノ
Although I finished the dress, the skirt hemline was warped! The reason was that I combined two kinds of knit fabrics. I used a soft and high stretch fabric for the center parts and a geometric printed polyester-cotton for the other. I was wondering how to fix it...I didn't want to remove the whole center band (what a pain!), but I tried to fix it. I attached the interfacing on the wrong side of all of the center band. I also shortened the length of the skirt by 1 inch and decreased both sides of the skirt by 1 1/4 inches.

I think it's fixed and fitted perfectly. The skirt hemline keep to form a perfect hemline due to decreasing both side skirts. This dress was a relatively simple sew but took a lot of time to fix it. They were very painful works.

I attached the eight eyelets on the neckline, so I threaded the suede cord through them. I want to remove the cord when I wash the dress, so I only made a knot in the back.

If you like the design I definitely recommend it. It's a lovely pattern! The dress took me a lot of time but it was well worth it. It was comfortable all day. If I make the pattern again I will modify it depending on the design. See you soon!
