_______________________________________________Good evening everyone,As you may have heard there is massive completely self-organized migrant strike going on in Sweden, by the network "Ung i Sverige" (Young in Sweden). Hundreds of youths from Afghanistan have been striking - day and night - for a week at one of the biggest squares in Stockholm. They are demanding the government and the Swedish migration agency to immediately stop all the dangerous deportations to Afghanistan. Now they need all solidarity from you. The strike has spread to other cities. Also in Gothenburg a sitting-strike has started at one of the largest squares. More and more cities are joining in. The solidarity is all over the country and manifestations have been held from north to south. Now we need all solidarity and support to spread their message! Today we wrote a status at the TSS Facebook - please share it in your networks.Best, Julia AåAThis is what we wrote today at the TSS facebook page, please spread:"For a whole week today, hundreds of youths from Afghanistan have been sit-striking – day and night – against Swedish asylum policies, and have now been granted a month's permit to occupy the grand steps of the civic hall (Medborgarhuset) on one of the largest squares in Stockholm (Medborgarplatsen, "the citizen's place"). Their declaration is simple: "we started a strike ... in order to stop deportations to Afghanistan". During the days that have passed they have gained a lot of support from all over the country. Solidarity manifestations have been made in several cities and more and more people are joining their strike. The total amount is now reaching over a thousand strikers. The group Ung i Sverige is entirely self-organized, initiated and maintained by young Afghan Swedes. They have requested that the director-general for the Swedish Migration Agency Mikael Ribbenvik come to Medborgarplatsen to respond to their demands, but so far he hasn't showed up. The distinction between safe and unsafe countries has been one of the principal tools by which EU institutions and governments create divisions between those who have the right to stay and those who haven't. This mobilization of young Afghanis shows however, once again, that migrants in Europe are not accepting these distinctions, that they have the better understanding of what is and what is not safe, and that they are going to strike and act collectively against being arbitrarily expelled – and against the unsafe conditions that are created here as well, when young people are threatened by authorities who ignore the persecutions and dangers facing these youths in the countries they fled from. As TSS we stand in full solidarity with the strikers, demanding a Eu residence permit for migrants all over Europe. Please help us to spread their message and support the strike. #stopdeportations #ungisverige"
