| Dear friends, Seventy-two years ago in Normandy, France, the Nazis took their last stand before they were defeated by the Allied powers. The world celebrated their demise, but by that point, they had already exterminated six million Jews and roughly ten million other marginalized peoples. The horror and bloodshed they caused touched the entire world, and leaders everywhere vowed "never again". But American President Donald Trump doesn't seem to understand that. Just last week, neo-Nazis and other white supremacists in the United States gathered for a show of strength and power in the university town of Charlottesville. When their rally turned deadly, politicians around the country and around the world were quick to condemn these fringe right-wing groups. But not Donald Trump. Instead, he claimed that the rally included many "very fine people" who were being treated unfairly. Trump has only been in power for seven months, but he has already shown that he is a danger to the entire globe. From flirting with the threat of nuclear war with North Korea, to refusing to address climate change, he has placed all our lives in peril. But luckily the United States' Constitution is equipped to deal with disasters just like this. By law, the American Congress can remove a president from office using the "impeachment" trial process. So far, no president has been pushed out by Congress — yet. But that doesn't mean Trump can't be the first. Thank you for all that you do, | | Miranda B. The Care2 Petitions Team |
