Lake Superior to Manitoulin

We have put on some miles since our last post. We travelled from Sault Ste. Marie to Lake Superior and are now waiting for visitors at Gore Bay on Manitoulin Island.  We had a bit more wind this past week and have had some good sailing days.

In the Soo we took a bike ride along the waterfront trail and stopped at the Bush Plane Museum.  We also visited the Historical locks to get an idea of what to expect when we locked through. The lock here was a piece of cake compared to what we experienced in the Welland Canal.

We entered Lake Superior and spent at night at anchorage at Ile Parisienne where we took a dinghy ride to look at the lighthouse and walk the sandy beaches on this currently uninhabited island.

We returned to the Soo and started our way east on the North Channel anchoring along the way and enjoying some good sailing weather.

We stopped in Bruce Mines to see the museum and tour the first copper mine in Ontario.

We are currently in Gore Bay awaiting company and taking refuge from some high winds.
