Dear friends,

Egyptian authorities call Azza a spy and a national security threat.

Her “crime”? Co-founding an organization which supports women who have survived torture, arbitrary detention, domestic abuse and rape.

Azza was recently arrested and interrogated. She is now facing charges including slandering Egypt’s image by claiming that women in the country face rape. She has been banned from traveling, and her assets have been frozen. She could face to up to 15 years in prison.

Amnesty protects human rights defenders like Azza. With our support, she will not be alone. Donate now to show you have Azza’s back.

Your support will fund our efforts:
  • Mobilizing our global movement to write letters in support of Azza.
  • Sharing Azza’s story with the media to get worldwide attention on the case.
  • Working with influential leaders who can leverage power with Egyptian authorities.
Egypt is facing an enormous human rights crisis, and Azza’s arrest is part of a sweeping crackdown on human rights defenders.

Human rights defenders count on Amnesty as an ally. Can we count on you?

Thank you for your support.
