RECRUITMENT DRIVE AT SNV ZAMBIA , ENDS 18 JULY 2017


Background
To contribute to the development of the smallholder dairy sector, SNV Zambia has been implementing the Market Led Dairy Innovation Project (MDIP) in Southern Province. The project has been working with eight (8) Dairy Cooperatives together all value chain actors such as processors, government extension ministries and the Dairy Association of Zambia. The cooperatives have been supported to 1) improve their organizational and management capacity, 2) bring services closer to their members and has initiated a number of innovations in the area of dairy skills training, breeding and pasture.
SNV wishes to expand its geographical coverage by upscaling the current project innovations to ensure that the results are sustainable and lead to the intended impact. SNV is applying for funding under the “Technical cooperation with Zambia, Green Innovation Centres – Dairy Value Chain” in Zambia. The global project “Green Innovation Centres for the Agriculture and Food sector” is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Key tasks for the national long-term experts include:
  • Support to the MCC
  • Identifying the training needs of dairy cooperatives supported by the project
  • Organising training programmes to meet the identified needs
  • Developing or updating information and training material
  • Providing technical expertise
  • Providing advice for the integration of innovations into the dairy value chain
  • Supporting the development of training materials in the livestock and dairy sector

Key tasks Organizational Development Coordinator
  • Coordinating activities with regard to organizational development of dairy cooperatives and
  • Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCO)
  • Facilitating cooperative business development
  • Supporting dairy cooperatives in developing viable cooperative business models
  • Facilitating business brokerage between cooperatives and chain actors
  • Providing technical expertise with regards to access to finance and markets for small scale farmers
  • Organizing training programmes
  • Developing or updating information and training material
