Mopani Copper Mines PLC, a joint venture Company comprising major Shareholders Glencore, First Quantum Minerals Ltd and ZCCM Investment, owns operations in Mufulira and Nkana on the Copperbelt in Zambia.

The Company seeks the service of qualified MINE CAPTAIN RBS X 2 reporting to Underground Manager.
The successful candidates will be responsible for planning, organizing and controlling mining activities in underground operations under his/her responsibility to ensure that production, long hole drilling and development targets are achieved safely and within budget.
Duties will among others, include:
  • Ensure that agreed ore production tonnage and development advance are effectively achieved to meet overall targets.
  • Supervise the work of development, long hole drilling, timbering and stape blasting to ensure that the set production program goes according to plan and prompt corrective action is taken when necessary.
  • Ensure that both domestic and statutory mining safety regulations are enforced and observed at all times.
  • Optimise the use of men, equipment, and materials so as to minimize operating costs.
  • Maintain discipline and sound industrial rotations among subordinates and supervisors in order to promote good industrial climate conducive to high productivity,
  • Maintain effective with service departments and other mining sections to ensure continuity of production operations.
  • Ensure the availability of trained personnel to uphold sectional performance
To be considered for this position, you must have;
  1. Grade 12 or Form 5 Cerli cate
  2. Degree in Mining Engineenng or its equivalent
  3. A’ least 5 years post qualification expenence •n mining (underground) environment.
  4. Must have valid Blasting License and First Aid certificate,
  5. Fully paid up member 01 EIZ
  6. Under the age of 3B years
