Lubambe Copper Mine is an underground mining operation situated on the Zambian Copperbelt close to the town of Chllilabombwe. The Lubambe Copper Mine was set up under a fifty-fifty joint venture agreement between African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) and Vale SA. The joint venture has an 80% share, while 20% is held by ZCCM Investments Holdings Plc.
Materials Superintendent
Responsibilities
- Bulk Material Management
- Warehouse and Yard Management
- Quality Assurance & Quality Control (Health & Safety inclusive, e.g MSDS)
- Coach and mentor training personnel under his/her control
- Ensure adherence to all legal requirements
- Formulating of Standard Operating practices to suit the specific company needs
- Problem solving and problem shooting of issues arising from purchase of services, supplies and equipment with internal & external suppliers
- Monitoring and reporting of supplier delivery performance and supplier quality performance using a systematic approach
- Maintenance of appropriate inventory levels consistent with targeted inventory goals
- Ad hoc, any other reasonable duties as and when requested from time to time
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Materials Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Operations Planning or a related field
- Ten years plus of related experience including cataloging, Warehouse management, inventory control, material categorization, logistics management, ERP systems analysing, policy and procedure writing, tracking of budget expenses, and senior level reporting
- Knowledge of import freight movement, inco terms, ZRA systems and clearing processes
- Prior experience in a mining environment will be an added advantage
- Leadership skills, communication skills, time-management, presentation skills, planning skills, organisation skills, etc
- Computer literacy on Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and projects
Procurement Superintendent
Responsibilities
- Devise and use fruitful sourcing strategies
- Track and report Key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Ensure that the initiated bid/quote process for services, materials and equipment are timely sent to the right registered suppliers
- Encourage interaction with End users and outside consultants to develop realistic specifications
- Ensure that prepared bid documents are well monitored to ensure adherence to the bidding process
- Performs bid analysis and makes recommendations regarding purchases
- Monitor and enforce the expediting of orders with the suppliers on regular basis
- Updates the Supply Chain Manager and end users on the order progress of the open requisitions and orders on regular basis
- Ensure that the closing out of orders is done within the agreed time frame
- Contests and disputes late deliveries and if necessary, after consultation with the Supply Chain Manager and end users cancels such orders
- Provides monthly reporting on contract spend, Cost Out, Contractor On-Time delivery performance and Contractor Quality Performance including corrective action plans for worst offenders
- Monitor Contractor performance by ensuring that product or service is delivered as scheduled and meets specifications; maintaining appropriate files and records of meetings with contractors to ensure company requirements are met and that the contractors are aware of their performance
- Establish, implement, and manage a system to evaluate, monitor and report Contractor scorecard performance
Qualifications
- BA/BComm/Prof Diploma in Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Planning or a related field
- Minimum of ten years proven track record of related experience including Contract Principals, Local and Government Legislation related to contracts and tenders, Policy & Procedure writing, tracking of budget expenses and Senior level reporting
- Prior experience in a mining environment will be an added advantage
- Strong Leadership capabilities
- Experience in collecting and analysing data
- Ability to establish areas where the improvements in personal in performance can be made and takes corrective action
