Description
Basic Function of the Position:
Job holder acts as the Locally Employed Staff (LES) Prevention Lead & Deputy Branch Chief to the Prevention Branch of the Division of Global HIV/AIDS & TB program (DGHT) and implements & supports prevention programs under President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Job holder is responsible for the day-to-day program and administrative management, design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of a broad range of HIV prevention program activities & studies, with other USG agencies that implement or support PEPFAR programs. Job holder reports directly to the Branch Chief.

Basic Salary: R537,121  - R751,973 per annum
Cash Benefits: R118,106 - R136,010 per annum
Non-cash benefits include medical, pension and others where applicable
                       Final salary is based upon a variety of factors

Qualifications Required:

Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.  Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.
  
Education:
  • Masters (MPH, MSHP) Degree or host country equivalent in public health, nursing, health policy, public administration, or social sciences is required.
Work Experience
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of mid-to-senior level relevant public health experience in developing, implementing and evaluating HIV/AIDS prevention programs or other public health programs that involve coordination with an international agency or implementing partners is required.
  • One year of experience at the managerial level with multiple staff is required.
Language:
  • Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required.  (This will be tested.)
Skills and Abilities: 
  • Thorough public health competency on current HIV/AIDS issues is required.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple assignments with various public health structures including familiarity with Ministry of Health (MOH) policies, program priorities and regulations is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills are required. Basic familiarity with MS Word and Excel is required. (This will be tested).
Job Knowledge:
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in HIV/AIDS prevention counseling and interventions, behavior change, care, treatment, and testing is required.
  • A detailed knowledge of the range of prevention programs, policies, regulations and precedents applicable to development and administration of national/international public health prevention program is required.
