Arc of Steuben to host autism conference

BATH | The Arc of Steuben’s Autism Resource Team (ART) is holding an autism conference on Wednesday, July 19th at the Radisson Hotel in Corning. The one-day conference will feature speaker Deborah Meringolo, who will run a seminar entitled 'Social Thinking Across the Home and School Day: The ILAUGH Model'. Attendees will walk away with a number of strategies relating to social skills for children age five to young adult. Meringolo is a special educator and developmental specialist, is the Associate Director of the Infant/Toddler Team at the Children's Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center (CERC), at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Conference attendees will gain new insights into the power of their own social emotional intelligence as they explore their social motivations and how they process and respond to social information. We will dissect the hidden rules, contemplate how social rules change with age, and discuss how social problem solving is at the heart of social skills, and affects how one interprets and responds to social-academic information and assignments.
