Current social protests organized under the motto of the defense of the Supreme Court,
which is supposed to guarantee the existence of democracy in Poland, prompts us to
determine how we feel it acting on our own skin. Significant part of the protests of the
birth of the present democracy is seen in the period of political transformation, when a
multiparty system developed, free media was created, free elections were drafted, the
Ombudsman institution was introduced, and so on. We have witnessed the democratization of
state institutions as well as the implementation of new forms of exploitation and the
breaking up of old forms of organization of the working world. As a result, a typical form
of the capitalist state was established in Poland, In which political democracy occurs
with the dominance of business over employees.

The symbolism of democracy with the capitalist system of exploitation of labor manifests
itself in the development of democratic institutions, coupled with the intensification of
exploitation and social inequalities. On the one hand, after 1989, territorial
self-government has developed, the third sector has been developed, civil rights and
social consultations have been enforced, on the other hand, junk and employment contracts
have been extended, temporary strikes have been reduced, housing resources privatized,
More flexible working time limits, reduced access to health and education services, most
crèches were abolished, etc. As the example of Poland confirms,  In capitalism, the
development of institutions guaranteeing the appropriation of workers' work does not
depend on democracy. The trilogue of power, as a guarantee of democracy, does not imply
the granting of tools for self-maintenance to employees, does not imply social control of
the means of production. Therefore, employees must sell their skills to their bosses in
exchange for pay to buy a means of subsistence. In particular, women are suffering from
free-of-charge reproductive work, which is economically dependent on their husbands. The
guarantor of social inequality in capitalism is not having political rights, but
possessing the means of production - machinery, housing, land, etc. - which make it
possible to produce means of subsistence.

Economic relations of exploitation, Which we are forced to do today, do not depend on the
development of political rights. In spite of this, the progress of democracy can in some
respects serve the interests of all social classes - the exploiters as well as the
exploited, the rulers and the ruled. The former, in the framework of democratic
institutions, can develop their careers; these institutions can also guarantee them stable
conditions for business development, while others in the democracy enjoy rights (the right
to court, the right to freedom of speech, freedom of movement, etc.). In PRL. The problem
is that the possession of political rights by workers does not liberate them from
exploitation, because its scale determines their strength in confrontation with the boss,
which is expressed, among others. In the form of economic rights (right to appropriate
working conditions, Right to social security, right to education, etc.). The nature of
these rights, however, is not as universal as in the case of political rights. By
establishing and enforcing economic laws, the state must in each case determine which
interests it represents - employees or business. It is not possible to introduce junk
contracts without worsening the working conditions and wages of hired workers; It is not
possible to create records protecting tenants who would not be prejudiced by tenants; You
can not lower your retirement age without compromising those who benefit from someone
else's work; Work regulations can not be abolished without worsening the conditions. The
shape and enforcement of economic laws primarily depends on the relationship between labor
and capital, How strong influence on state institutions is by workers or business.

Consequently, the current protests with a decidedly "civic" and not "labor" nature,
dominated by liberal and not lay workers, emphasize the importance of political and civic
rights, while at the same time ignoring the fundamental rights. Economic, social and labor
rights, which are ignored during the current protests, are an essential element of
democracy for us. As we know, the question of these workers' rights and democracy in the
workplace is alien to all the political forces that have ruled in this country since 1989,
as well as the social movements that have been their backing. Further social-democratic,
liberal and right-wing governments seek to impose economic coercion in the spheres of
economic life, Which a few years ago was characterized by a certain amount of democracy -
education, culture, housing, public transport, etc. The fundamental problem is not
therefore the restriction of democracy by PiS but its limitation by the capitalist
exploitation system. We do not expect the current demonstrations to head toward the gates
of businesses in order to bring about a democratization of their demoralized monarchy.

It is hard for us to defend a democracy where there may be room for the independent
Supreme Court, but there is no place for economically independent workers. The present
state of democracy in Poland does not guarantee the freedom of masses of women and men who
maintain their own hands and heads. We can only achieve it by fighting for democratic
control over means of production and means of subsistence. Public transport, etc. The main
problem is therefore not the restriction of democracy by PiS but its limitation by the
capitalist exploitation system. We do not expect the current demonstrations to go to the
gates of businesses to bring about a democratization of their demoralized monarchy. It is

The targeting of political occupations and occupied housing areas for refugees and
immigrants continues through successive press reports, with the latest insurmountable
article in Thessaloniki's electronic media against the occupation of Mundo Nuevo, and
shortly before threats had been received by the City of Thessaloniki and Free Social Space
School. ---- At the same time, the occupation of Rosa Nera in Chania is threatened with
evacuation, due to the speculative agreements concluded by the Technical University of
Crete with entrepreneurs in the tourism industry, with the rector of the foundation, in
the role of a businessman, stating that the planned repression would be "For the good of
society". ---- All the previous time the repressive anti-squatter propaganda has
intensified. The references to evacuation orders for "Papoutsidiko", City Plaza and the
occupation of refugees living in Zoodochos Pigis 119 in Athens, as well as the particular
pressure exerted in the cases where the owners are university institutions, such as Lely
Karagiannis 37 and " Vancouver "in Athens and" Evangelism "in Heraklion are aimed at
criminalizing the anarcho-anti-authoritarian character of the ventures and the practical
solidarity with refugees and immigrants.

In essence, they are crafted publications, which usually have the form of "exhortations"
to the government, while they actually come to serve the state plans directly by creating
a suppressive climate. Similar media hysteria was unfolding and last summer when
immediately after the No Border in Thessaloniki, the occupations of Orphanage (which was
demolished), Mandalides and Hurriya were evacuated. Moreover ,  the Prime Minister of the
SYRIZA-ANEL N. TOSKAS Public Order Minister himself gave the trigger for the recent
suppression wave with successive interviews and statements after the occupation of Villa
Zografos and Alkiviados in Athens, and then the occupation of Albatros in Thessaloniki ,
Confirming the state planning of the evacuations, announcing the continuation of police
operations and setting the framework for the government's ideological attack in the world
struggling from below.

Targeting and suppressing squabbles is part of the state's and boss's most comprehensive
assault on the social and class resistance that is being developed against their murderous
plans. Refugees and immigrants are being imprisoned in camps, and institutional racism is
intensifying - by re-opening the ground to neo-Nazi gangs and by cultivating social
cannibalism - the life and dignity of workers and the unemployed are strangled by the
onslaught of capital by constantly imposing new measures of impoverishment and submission,
Industrial accidents - employers' murders are increasing, class and social mobilizations
are dealt with by police violence and defamation (as happened with the contestants for
free days journeys in means of transport that were brought to the depot)

In this conflict between the predators of power and the world struggling for freedom,
equality and dignity, squatting is both a refuge and a base for the promotion of
solidarity, self-organization and resistance to every front of the social-class war. And
as such, we will defend them fighter and organized by all means.

Recent repression in South Africa, like the sentencing of four protestors from Boiketlong
township to 16 years in jail for alleged violence, shows what we face. The black working
class is victimised and unfairly charged. This is due to the fights and popular unrest in
township communities, against unfair, corrupt, maladministration and brutal living
conditions. We have less and we live under financial constraints. But once we take action
to the streets to fight the brunt of poverty, we face the guns and fists of police
brutality. And this where jail time comes in. ---- Rich men who have stolen billions and
exploited millions face no charges, despite media exposing their evils. But the freedom
fighters in the struggle get imposed penitentiary time.

We want to stop the corruption, stop the suffering, stop the injustice. The war cry, our
popular slogan, should be that we, the black working class, have had enough. The bedrock
of every liveable community rests on honour, good services and decent livelihoods. Our
brothers and sisters who take up this fight for justice should not be the ones punished
for these actions.

But we cannot rely on the politicans, no matter the party or the colour. We know that the
people we elect to serve our communities forget doing so, once they live cozily, sit in
the luxury seats. So down with this stomach politics!

The 1994 ANC-led regime said it will not do what the National Party did to the people. But
we experience the opposite today. The enemy we face has proven to include the ruling
party. Nelson Mandela said that if the ANC does to the people, what the NP did to the
people, then the people must fight back. So we must fight for justice, against what they
have since perpetrated against us.

It is only by building working class counterpower and ideological clarity, and never by
elections, that we can win our fight for freedom.

Appearing since May 2015, Les Utopiques are the cahiers de réflexions published by the
union Solidaires. The idea being to carry out a review made by and for trade unionists,
while addressing all those who make the social movement in the broad sense. ---- Although
most of the articles were written by members or Solidaire structures (from various
sectors), we saw activists from the DAL, Attac, APEIS, UJFP, but also Other unions (CGT,
Confédération paysanne ...) contribute. The fifth delivery was issued in June and includes
an important dossier dealing with the current state of emergency. The originality is to
associate examples of resistances and disobedience, past and present, both at work (at the
factory, in cleaning, Among railwaymen and railway workers ...) and in emblematic
struggles (GMO mowers and mowers, committees of soldiers in the 1970s ...). This is a
timely case when the government has just renewed the state of emergency and is about to
make it permanent by integrating its provisions into common law.

In this same issue, the issue of trade union unity is again questioned (this was the
subject of the dossier of the previous issue) through historical examples and specific
sectors (taxes, pensioners, unemployed and unemployed ... ). Again, while the
intersyndical unity - at least the one that contributes to building struggles - has been
absent in these first months of macronization, we can only salute the will to grasp it
with arms like the Make The Utopians.

On the last weekend of May, one of the most important anarchist book exhibitions in the
world happened: the "6th International Anarchist Book Fair of Montreal", inside the
Festival of Anarchy, with the participation of dozens of publishers, distributors and
exhibitors . To talk a little about the fair, we talked to Zachavela, from the distributor
of books  La Sociale , and from the anarchist bookstore  L'insoumise . ---- Anarchist News
Agency> What is  La Sociale? ---- Zachavela <  A  La Sociale  is a collective of diffusion
of books and other texts libertarian, anti-capitalist and class struggle of various trends
and currents. It has existed since the late 1970s and has had two bookstores opened in
Montreal for three years. ---- ANA> And which "most important" books have you ever released?

Zachavela <  Usually we do not edit. We receive and sell, but from time to time we make
small editions of texts, not complete books. For example, we have edited:  Quand Meurent
les Insurrections , by author Gilles Dauvé, the poetry I wrote entitled,  Parce que je
Veux Respirer , signed Zachavela, and other things, about art, surrealism, etc.

Above all, we are in contact with the publishers  Nuits Rouges, L'Insomniaque, Spartacus,
Oiseau Tempête, Théorie Communiste  etc. of France, who send us magazines or books to be
known here. It goes from Bakunin to texts by Daniel Guerrin. La Sociale  was one of the
first groups to release Guy Debord and the  Internationale Situationniste  in Quebec, as
we had good relations with publisher  Champ Libre,  who edited the IS authors. I only
started to participate in the collective from around 1997.

ANA> So, what was the balance of the "6th Montreal Anarchist Book Fair"?

Zachavela <  About the exhibitors, to have the complete list I think that on the website (
anarchistbookfair.taktic.org ) of the Montreal Anarchist Book Fair you will be able to
find all the names. I can tell you that there were a lot of people, conferences, art
exhibitions, poetry nights, etc. It was a success. Also on the site you will find the
program of the fair. I think it would be more complete like that. There are many groups
that participate that are not libertarians, but of other tendencies.

ANA> Are these groups of other trends part of the institutional, partisan left? Explain
better...

Zachavela <  No, they are not of the institutional left.

ANA> What is the profile of people attending the fair in Montreal?

Zachavela <  Above all, I would say that you are anarchist, libertarian people, with or
without a group, also anti-globals and people of the left, only progressives, feminists,
ecologists. There are many students and some college professors who go there because there
is a university course on anarchy.

ANA> What course and what university?

Zachavela <  The exact name of the course I do not know, but the university is: Université
du Québec à Montréal  (UQAM).

ANA> You've been attending since the first fair, right? Since then, what has changed? Do
you see a growth in demand for libertarian and anti-authoritarian literature in Canada?

Zachavela <  In Montreal, I can tell you that a culture of literature, and the fact that
people want to read libertarian texts, is increasing. But it is hard to say what the
expectations are. Fashion or movement? Do not know. But I can say that the fair is very
popular and that the people who organize this event are competent.

ANA> The fact that  Living Theater  participated in the opening of the fair, means more
visibility, more people in the event?

Zachavela <  I think so, and especially people we do not usually see, because they are
interested in other things. I was on one of the nights at the  Living Theater  and it was
really interesting.

ANA> Did the big media advertise the fair, or did you do any "special" reporting?

Zachavela: I'm  sorry, but I can not answer that question. There's a lot of publicity, but
this year I do not know if the big media has said anything. I read the official papers a
little, and I do not talk to the media very much. But there were other years that the
official media spoke of the event.

ANA> Could you tell which book sold the most at the fair? Or would you highlight some that
were exposed there?

Zachavela <People  usually search texts from or about Daniel Guerrier, Bakunin, Albert
Jacob, Antonin Panneckoek ( Conseil Ouvriers ), Jaime Semprun Moura (Civil War in Spain in
36), etc.

ANA>  La Sociale  only participates in the fair of Montreal or others as well?

Zachavela <  When we go to Paris, we help the friends of  Les Éditions Spartacus  at the
fair in  Lutte Ouvrière . But if not, it's only at the Montreal fair.

ANA> Has any type of state repression occurred in any edition of the fair?

Zachavela <  No. So far everything went well. Thus, the collective of the book fair rents
a space. That's it.

ANA> Is the bookstore  L'insoumise  new?

Zachavela <  Previously, there was a bookstore called  Alternatives  and it was run by
people of extreme left, pretending to be an anarchist space. Anarchist and libertarian
groups took possession of this place and changed their name. Now the anarchist bookstore
in Montreal is called  L'insoumise . It has  La Sociale, NEFAC, Le Trouble, Mauvaise
Herbe, GCL, Maikan  etc. Who participate in the project. Each group sends people to the
library of the bookstore and so manage the project.

ANA> In the Anarchy Festival programming there was a project called " Bookmobile ". What
is it?

Zachary <  Frankly, I do not know. There is so much that goes on during the book show that
some things escape us. But if you want I can tell you about anarchist football during the
fair. The people who like to play football invite the whole staff, children too, and go
there for the lawn to play ball ...

ANA> Is the book still a good companion?

Zachavela <  I love to read and for that, I think so, the book will always be one of the
best companions you will ever meet. But living everything that is written is even better.
And by writing stories, with our lives, these experiences are transformed into our living
books, which other people, perhaps one day, will read and will live later, and these our
lives, perhaps, will also help them gain more liberties.

ANA> Finally, could you tell some funny or curious story that happened in this last
edition of the fair?

Zachavela <  I can say that after the fair we are going to have a few drinks at a bar
called  Yermad , formerly  Blues Clair , and where we drink the beer, we sing old
anarchist songs. It's funny, fun ... That's the end of our event.
