2017 Cruise Preparations

Our goal is to sail the Great Lakes this summer then return to Lake Ontario via the Trent Canal in September.  We will extend the sailing season by heading south via the Erie Canal/Hudson River to the Atlantic, eventually ending up in the Virgin Islands where we will spend the winter island hopping.

Getting off the dock for a long voyage is always a challenge. There are a million details to take care of and projects to complete.  We were reminded of how short the sailing season is here when we were in Costco to buy a new starter battery and they had snowsuits on sale! The dream of a "retirement" without time constraints is elusive.  It seems that Mother Nature will continue to push us to get moving so I better get back to work or we won't get away before the season is over.
