Long Range Planner
Responsible of leading a team of technical professionals in the coordinated developments of the Life of Mine Planning for Konkola Underground operations. S/he will need to ensure that the mine has clear direction in terms of what needs to be completed and by when to ensure continual production growth of the operation.
The successful candidate will be required to:
a. Maintain Zero-rate Accidents for SOU by ensuring that all safety standards are incorporated in the conceptual designs/layouts of the mine
b. Engage and manage consultants for hydrogeological studies and programs, to ensure that the mine has a clear dewatering strategy in place for the future.
c. Identify hydrogeological issues what a may impact on KCM achieving the LOM of plan and to propose solutions to the issues.
d. Engage and manage consultants for backfilling strategy as well as ensuring that necessary infrastructure gets costed and included into LOM plan.
e. Engage and manage consultants in drafting a geotechnical study for LOM of the operation in order to mitigate any geotechnical risks.
f. Investigate alternative mining methods for the optimal depletion of the resource and waste handling strategies.
g. Ensure that a LOM plan is developed incorporating the above strategies, scheduling and costing the LOM plan.
h. Ensure that sound financial analysis of various options/strategies is undertaken for the long term benefit of KCM.
i. Continually strive through ones actions to drive zero harm culture.
Requirements / Competency Profile :-
Critical Competencies
· Sound knowledge of the mining value chain and enabling processes
· Business and financial analytical skills
· Sound knowledge of business improvement/optimisation and best practice benchmarking
· Strong project management skills
· Experience in the use of improvement tools
· Experience of working with culturally diverse teams
· Good verbal, written and presentation skills are required
Qualifications
· Degree in Mining Engineering
Experience
· Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with predominant expertise in mechanised mining operations environment.
· Experience in underground mine design and development.
· Experience in mine equipment selection, capital cost and operating cost estimates.
Knowledge
· Familiar with mine planning software such as Surpac, Deswik or other mine development software
· Knowledge of the international (ISO) quality, safety and environmental management standards.
