Calm down

The latest outrage is not over, and probably won't be for some time, but most assuredly it will be soon replaced by yet another.  I know it , you know it.  It takes no special talent for soothsaying to make that prediction, because we have had mass shootings at better than once per day for calendar year 2017.

We have also had no small measure of small outrageous behaviors and some not so small.  We no doubt will have calls for gun control, we always do.
 
What we will not have is some call for mental health control.  We will not have a call to tone down the inflammatory rhetoric.  We will not have a call for politicians to speak in calm , reasonable tones giving adequate explanation for positions ,as opposed to the dirty bastards talk that is political discourse.

Warren is probably being stoked for candidacy in 2020, of that there is no doubt.  Her toes are in the water as we speak, denials and demurrers nothwithstanding.  Her party is so decimated and bereft of real leadership talent, she would have to be the leader of the pack.  Cory Booker is too much a reminder of Barrack Obama , too soon after Mr. Obama's exit the office of President.

Charismatic Personality such as possessed by Obama , and Booker for that matter, was quickly shown to be shallow in terms of leadership.  When the best review of his administration is left with the dubious claim that  "at least there were no scandals during his Presidency", you know you are left wanting.

But there is Warren shrilly shrieking for a fight and seeking to tap into that election winning notion of the angry middle class.  But who else, whining Chuck Schumer, aged Pelosi, Feinstein of Leahy are laughable. Maxine Watters,  Moonbeam Brown or Joe Biden.  There is no one on scene.

Oh, the middle class is probably undeniably angry, as are overtaxed well to do families and no doubt the poorer classes.  Why is everyone so angry.  The rich, which incidentally begins as a class making more than 130,000 per annum, hardly a grandiose number for being called rich  find themselves paying 80 percent of income taxes , although they comprise fewer than 20 percent of the population.
The jobless middle class follows quickly behind , even though they now have jobs, those jobs are paying half what they formerly made.  The underclass, the perpetually angry despite largess heaped upon them.  About the only ones not showing up on the anger index are those who work for government, although you could not tell it be a walk through my town hall, where all you hear is bitching from the hard pressed who must put in their 35 hour work week in air conditioned comfort and occasionally must stir to help a citizen

So for my money the last thing we need is more stoking the fires of anger.  We need to damp down the flames, keep the coals hot but the flames low.
