AMS Denali Expeditions Update
Our two high camp teams:
5/27 Denali, West Buttress, "Team Lucy" Expedition led by Wes Bunch, Jake Kayes, and Lexie Hunsaker
5/28 Denali, West Buttress Expedition led by Larry Holmgren and Chris Welch
Did not get the weather for a summit attempt today. They have moved down from high camp; to 17,200' to 14,200' today. Both teams have spent nearly three weeks climbing and, with a poor forecast in the future, it is time to head downward. Denali has been a great climbing adventure for these groups and they have put in their full 3 weeks. They will have some stories to tell. They are safely back at 14,200' camp tonight and enjoying a well deserved rest.
6/4 Denali, West Buttress Expedition led by Jeremiah Phelps
Military Training Expedition with Colby Coombs
6/8 Denali, West Buttress Expedition led by Mark Postle and Michael Gardener
Are all at 14,200' camp as well and are doing very well. They are camped all together in an AMS compound of large protective snow all snow walls and toasty warm tents. Today they spent the day hunkered down and shoveling out from over a foot of snow, with more still falling, this is a great day for hot drinks all day long. They are enjoyed welcoming back the two AMS high camp teams today.
