 | Kalahari Resorts Will Stop Abusing Tiger and Lion Cubs | Kalahari is a popular U.S. resort chain that includes waterparks, rides and spas — and photo booths with hundreds of trafficked tigers and lions. When Krupa learned the man providing animals to Kalari Resorts had been cited with dozens of violations of the Animal Welfare Act, and had admitted to slaughtering lions for the exotic meat trade, she knew she had to take action. She started a Care2 petition demanding that the resorts stop participating in the abuse of tiger and lion cubs. After two years and 140,525 signatures, her petition became a success! | Coal Company Won't Build Strip Mine in Alaska River | The Chuitna River watershed in Alaska is a unique ecosystem where foxes, wolves, bears, and wild salmon live. But that didn't stop PacRim Coal company from planning to build a strip coal mine there. Marcy is a member of Alaska's Denaina Athabaskan tribe and she was horrified by what could happen to the pristine environment that is her home. She started a Care2 petition demanding a stop to the proposed mine, and more than 72,300 people signed. This put pressure on the company, which decided to suspend all activity on the project! We've saved this waterway, but our world oceans are still at risk of fossil fuel pollution. Sign the petition to urge U.S. President Trump to stop offshore oil drilling. | | |

 | Artists Will Be Recognized for Sound Design | When you see a play, you might not think there's much going on behind the acting, scenery and costumes. But a play can't come to life without sound design. The Tony Awards Administration, the committee in charge of honoring achievements in theatrical arts, seemed to have forgotten this. In June 2014, they cut the sound design category from the annual honors, provoking outrage from many artists. Award-winning Broadway sound designer and composer John Gromada started a Care2 petition demanding the committee reinstate this category. Over three years, he collected tens of thousands of signatures, and now the Tony Awards has listened! Read about John's success here. | | |
