SPEAKING GOD’S LANGUAGE

Human beings desire to be loved and cared. However, the hunger for love is difficult to be satisfied, at least humanly. Today, Jesus speaks of a love that produces immeasurable joy, which the Father and He have for those who belong to him. We can never outdo God in love because he has loved us without measure, with a love that offers grace, life, peace and joy.

The love of God is perfect and uncontainable. The love of the Father for the Son is perfect in every way. It is unconditional and all-consuming. It’s total and selfless. In receiving the Father’s love, Jesus receives all He needs. The love Jesus receives from the Father cannot be contained. It cannot be kept to Himself. It overflows from Jesus’ heart to us. This overflowing love, now given to us, cannot be contained within us either. It must overflow from our hearts to others. Therefore, if we are to be true recipients of the love of the Father and the Son, we must in turn let that love pour forth onto others in an “unlimited” and “unconditional” way.

Today we are called to love for love’s sake, for the sake of Christ, who is the fount of genuine authentic love. It is for no other reason but for pure love that Christ paid a costly price. Our life as Christ’s disciples is and should be a love offering - a gift to the other. The love of God which is in us has to be recognized, responded to and passed on. This is the goal of Christian living: to remain in Christ’s love and to be filled with his joy. You and I are blessed to know the truth that GOD is LOVE. Therefore let’s spread this truth with haste and without reserve. If you can continually let God love you with His perfect love, you will start to see that this love automatically flows forth from you as if it were an overflowing river of grace and mercy.

Prayer: Lord, I do love You and know that I am loved by You. Help me to be open to Your love. Help me to let that love sink in so that it may also overflow from my heart to others.  Jesus, I trust in You. Amen.
