Trump, Girls Need Michelle Obama's Education Program

Dear friends, Trump dislikes the Obamas so much that he will stop at nothing to undo all of the good work they did over the past eight years. As a result, millions of people are losing their healthcare. Religious groups can legally discriminate against members of the LGBTQ community. Immigrants live in constant fear of deportation. And now girls all over the world will not have access to education. Last week, the Trump administration ended Michelle Obama's "Let Girls Learn" program. Delivered primarily by Peace Corps volunteers, the program worked to knock down barriers so that all girls are able to get an education. It is a vital program that has changed the lives of countless young women. This program was unique because it didn't just construct school buildings; it focused on what happens inside those buildings. Funds went towards things like paying for teachers and providing better books. When Trump gave orders for the Peace Corps to stop implementing "Let Girls Learn," he made tens of thousands of girls' futures uncertain. Girls who are educated are healthier and more likely to be economically secure. They are also more likely to participate in politics and become strong advocates for themselves and others in their community. When girls are educated, everyone wins. But Trump is letting his petty grudge against the Obamas get in the way of progress and women's equality. Tell him that women have suffered enough from his words and actions.
