Matt, how about you look below and tell me: is this what you mean by civil discourse and discussion of ideas?

Angel Gee, I disagree.
I understand somewhat where you're coming from.
I also note that you're not a troll, so I won't treat you like one:
It's not just a matter of the majority being positive. It's more about us being a unified whole. The more aligned we are as a whole, the more efficient we become as a whole.
Do I completely agree with the idea every single one of us have to be super-positively charged instead of only somewhat positive or neutral? Somewhat.
Do I see the necessity in them doing it like this? Yes.
If one of us drops and the other has to carry their weight, that detracts from their capacity to carry their own weight, and that creates a feedback loop that ultimately affects all of us.
We are as strong as our weakest link.
But we're certainly not heartless either.
And yes, the NPTB (i.e.:OWK and Sephora) could do the recalibrating for us. They could shut down DC and get everything done for us while we sit on our butts waiting.
But then would we grow as much from that?
Their job is to give us the tools to grow.
Our job is to grow.
They can give us the rocket and all the fuel and training we want.
But we have to be the ones to pilot it, and to do our work afterwards, up in orbit, when no one can bring back down but us ourselves.
And if we don't have our act together, all of us, before we start our mission, can you guarantee me we'll have our act together afterwards?
Do I feel they could be doing this a bit faster? Yes.
Do I understand all the stakes involved?
No. No, no I don't.
It's been their job to run all the calculations and operate the schematics of the mission and ensure, on their end, that our mission begins without a hitch, or without any nasty gremlins eating at the wires and stealing our equipment. Our end of the mission is to ensure our head is in the game, so we don't drift off on a tangent when we're supposed to be pulling levers at halfway to terminal velocity.
So if they're waiting on us, as the astronaut, to have our act together before they clear us for takeoff, I say let 'em.
It makes my job easier.
Signed,
D.N.
