Earlier this month, the Department eliminated funding to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), an organization that provides critical health services for the most underserved girls and women around the world. These are not just budget cuts: Trump's administration has completely stopped ALL funding for UNFPA. UNFPA's work is critical. Since they began providing services in 1969, the number of women who die from pregnancy-related complications has gone down 50%. They also protect girls around the world by working to end female genital mutilation and child marriage. The U.S. has been UNFPA's largest donor. Without UNFPA funding, the world's most vulnerable women have had their rights ripped away. Millions of women around the world rely on this care.
