Gay men are still being hunted, tortured, and murdered by authorities in Chechnya, Russia.
Across the world, thousands have raised their voices in outrage, asking Russian authorities to stop these atrocities. But now we have a real shot at making them listen.
Next week, Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel is visiting Russia. Merkel has huge power and influence – and a track record of calling out world leaders when they violate human rights.
Reports of kidnappings and horrific torture continue. Nobody has been brought to justice for these ongoing crimes against humanity. This is clearly not a priority for Putin.
Merkel will be travelling to Moscow just a few days from now. We need to urgently show her that thousands of us stand in solidarity with those who are facing appalling violence and abuse in Chechnya.
