Urge the EU to Ensure Refugees with Disabilities Have Access to Humanitarian Aid

Dear friends,
"Overlooked and underserved" — this is how a recent Human Rights Watch report describes refugees with disabilities living in Greece.
It's already heart-wrenching to think of the millions of refugees who've fled for their lives, only to land in cramped camps with limited resources. But I can't even find the words to describe how difficult it must be for those living with a disability.
Can you imagine living with a disability and trying to get by living in the accommodations pictured above? Or how about using the toilet, taking a shower or even just getting around from place to place? Shelter, sanitation, medical care and other basic services are not being provided for refugees with disabilities.
The European Union (EU) provides aid and funding for Greece and other countries that are saddled with serving the lion's share of the refugee population. But more must be done to ensure that this aid is reaching the most vulnerable populations, especially those living with disabilities.
It's up to the EU to take responsibility and enact protocols that follow the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and EU law. And it's up to the rest of us to make sure that the European Parliament follows through.
Every person deserves the right to feel safe, have their basic needs met, and live with dignity. Please sign the petition to add pressure to the EU to ensure that these rights are upheld for all refugees.
Thank you,
 Alex B.
