Despite the weather and short notice, anti war activists from several groups, political
parties and none took part in today's Stop the War Rally at Derry's cenotaph. This is not
for the first time have the people of Derry have come out in opposition to atrocities
carried out by and pending wars instigated by imperialist forces or their allies around
the world. The aerial attack on Khan Sheikhun in Idlib province, apparently carried out by
the Syrian regime, which appears to have involved chemical weapons, is another terrible
outrage in the war which has devastated Syria since 2011. More than 72 people are now
reported dead, 20 of these children, and over 200 horribly wounded. ---- In calling todays
rally following the sickening developments carried out in Syria this week, in a statement
issued by the Derry Anti War Coalition a spokesperson said: "Like with so much reportage
from Syria it is difficult to untangle the truth of who is responsible for the carnage.
This latest atrocity, whether it is a direct chemical attack by the Syrian regime or a
conventional attack on a rebel weapons compound holding chemicals as the Russian
Government is claiming, only exposes the games of the outside forces involved in Syria's
proxy war.

While condemning this attack the DAWC contends that any further military intervention by
outside forces such as the missile strikes launched by the Trump regime will only prolong
the horror of this war for the Syrian people and must be resisted by anti-war and peace
activists. This appalling attack therefore must not be used as a justification for yet
further Western escalation This latest atrocity only adds to the litany of recent carnage
in the region. Not so avidly reported by the Western media however is the Western backed
assault on Mosul across the border in Iraq which is also causing a huge number of
casualties. It is estimated that the US-led coalition bombing raids have killed around
1,500 civilians in March alone and hundreds of thousands have been displaced. On 28 March
one US strike alone caused the deaths of 112 civilians in Mosul, according to a CNN
report. The IAWM condemns all these attacks and calls for the withdrawal of all foreign
militaries from the middle east and for peace negotiations to ensue. The attacks in Mosul
and this recent horrific attack in Syria show the true horror of war for civilians and
only underlines the urgency to stop these wars and achieve political solutions."

From the build up to this current situation, both Russian and US forces propaganda war
has already been in full swing. Assisted again by their 'neutral media' machines of the
CNN, BBC, RT, FOX, SKY and RTE. Their media spin used to do just that, mass confusion and
manipulation of viewers by relentless images of death and war which can also affect
antiwar mobilisation against them at home. As the tension heightens both in Syria and now
on the Korean peninsula, it is vital that we also to highlight issues locally such as US
military refuelling at Shannon as well as engagement of Irish Troops involvement with NATO
forces. For anarchists, we call on all workers to reject all forms of nationalism and
further continuing imperialist wars on the streets. Although todays rally was small, it's
important to continue the call for more protests and to demand NO WAR BUT THE CLASS WAR!

Following a new wave of protests against Chile's Pinochet-era privatised pensions system,
María Carrasco of libertarian communist journal Solidaridad looks at why women have
particular reason to stand up for a new way. ---- Major rallies have been ongoing since
last year against the six private for-profit funds which currently hold Chile's £122
billion in assets but pay just £320 a month to poorer pensioners. ---- When we speak of
the pension system in Chile we imagine that its principles should be analogous to that of
social security, based on universality, solidarity, efficiency and comprehensiveness. But
we know that the system meets neither international standards nor the needs of
individuals, and as a structural feature, it is extremely discriminatory to women.

To give some context, 2016 was marked by agitation and mobilisations which expressed
widespread dissatisfaction with the structural deficiencies of the current pensions system
in Chile. In it, the individual savings of each worker are managed by private financial
institutions, which from the period of the dictatorship assumed management of these funds.

In an attempt to patch the pension system in 2008, Reform Law 20,255 (See UNRISD report
page 24) was applied. This requires gradual mandatory coverage for self-employed people
since 2012; includes a non-contributory universal basic pension and two solidarity
pensions to replace the former Program of Pensions Assistance, a welfare pension is
guaranteed to people with no income or do not exceed 50% of the new minimum pension, and a
universal solidarity pension for all over-65s. These reforms did make improvements, but do
not address systemic discriminatory deficiencies which particularly harm women,
perpetuating gender inequality.

Discrimination against women through pensions

Women are victims of direct discrimination in the labour market, they receive less pay for
exactly the same work done and their functions are regulated by a legal framework that
limits the period of contribution, considering longer periods of retirement. They are also
likely to pay in less on average throughout their working life, limiting their
accumulation period and extending their funding period on the basis of their own savings
(ECLAC, 2004).

Sexual difference as a factor shaping access to employment is a determining factor in
pensions inequality. Women receive lower pensions than men because of their absences from
the labour market to raise children, increasing the number of contribution years required
to obtain the minimum pension, or with fewer contributions than men a pension calculation
based on what they have accumulated their individual account. Taking into account
mortality tables which are also differentiated by sex background, women are poorly
capitalised but have a higher life expectancy (Mesa, 2013).

As a result women self-financed pension take averages $93,077, while men get $204,332,
meaning women get just 56% of the pension that men get. 59% of women receive early
pensions under the poverty line, while 26% of men are in the same situation.

As we know, the pension system is unfair to all workers, but does not affect everyone the
same way. The way our society organises work creates worse conditions for women who are
relegated to unpaid work, suffering particularly hard in their old age. Recognising this
difference is essential to work on any improvement. And it is both something that allows
us to reveal deeper problems as well, much as all roads lead to Rome, all daily samples of
gender inequality allow us to deepen our understanding of the ravages of patriarchy in our
lives and allows us to fight it from all spaces.

This communiqué is written with the intention of making public the position that as Grupo
Libertario Vía Libre, a specific anarchist organization of the city of Bogotá, Colombia,
we are dealing with a case of gender violence that occurred among militants of our
organization. We think that our task, as anarchists and feminists, is to carry out deep
exercises of self-criticism and criticism that aim to consolidate a position of rejection
of patriarchal, macho and violent actions and attitudes both in the public sphere and in
the realm of private. ---- This communiqué is written with the intention of making public
the position that as Grupo Libertario Vía Libre, a specific anarchist organization of the
city of Bogotá, Colombia, we are dealing with a case of gender violence that occurred
among militants of our organization. We think that our task, as anarchists and feminists,
is to carry out deep exercises of self-criticism and criticism that aim to consolidate a
position of rejection of patriarchal, macho and violent actions and attitudes both in the
public sphere and in the realm of private.

We note that when a body is assigned as "man", it begins to have certain privileges that
shape its identity, and that it bases its foundation on the idea of the superiority of the
masculine over the feminine. Such superiority or imbalance of power should not be
overlooked in understanding how we relate to human beings. In short, the unequal valuation
of the masculine and feminine are the roots of the patriarchal system, which acts in
conjunction with capitalism or racism, among other systems of oppression.

For this reason, we must maintain a permanent alert and make collective exercises of
criticism and self-criticism that question the privileges of the companions assigned as
"men". The questioning exercise also goes on to recognize that no person is exempt from
macho attitudes, and that it is essential to be alert to any affirmation, nuanced or
explicit, of patriarchy and positions of obligatory heterosexuality. Although criticism
and self-criticism should be made from a pedagogical exercise that prevents situations of
gender violence and helps us to recognize what it means to be "man" and to be "woman" in
the world, there are attitudes and situations that Must be named concretely and publicly,
condemning them in a forceful manner and taking the necessary measures to avoid a
repetition of situations of violence.

This is the case of physical and psychological violence perpetuated on the part of those
assigned as "men" to "women". When a militant partner physically and psychologically
assaults a comrade, we as anarchists, as revolutionaries, as people we are thinking of a
new way of relating to ourselves, of living, of loving, of acting collectively and of
curbing the situation of violence.

If these attitudes of masculine (macho and patriarchal) violence are repeated and there is
no indication of a change, or questioning the privileges and therefore of the place in
society, then we do not believe there is room in the organization for someone who does not
want Question and change. On the other hand, if there is a transformation disposition,
recognition of the privileges and the profound change that must be developed, sometimes
emotionally drastic, to understand our place in the world, then we must think pedagogical
strategies of criticism and self-criticism that allow such a process.

For the reason above and as we became aware of the facts, in an extraordinary meeting and
by collective agreement, we decided to expel Daniel Perafan, Who was active in our
organization and in territorial spaces and political formation since 2015, due to the
physical and psychological violence against him that was his sentimental partner, also
militant of our organization, and a series of macho attitudes towards some Companions of
the social spaces where we work. The situations presented by the partners lead us to argue
that Daniel's action is repetitive and that, so far, no consistent desire for change has
been expressed.

On the other hand, we recognize the value of the comrades who made the situation public,
knowing that it is not easy to report such situations. As an organization we will support
our colleagues in both political and emotional terms and in the activation of collective
security protocols that we have agreed upon in our organization and the spaces in which we
participate. In the same way we want to encourage other partners within and outside the
social movements to report these cases and demand the accompaniment of their
organizations, groups and families in these difficult situations and in turn are
systematically invisibilized and minimized by society .

Moving away from the idea, often rooted in organizations and popular movements, that these
issues must be dealt with only within the organization, we publish this communique that
seeks to show that the arrays of oppression, in this case patriarchy, Operate from
specific actions of specific people, and none is exempt from reproducing them. Therefore,
it is vitally important to counter these violence with sincerity, in all areas where we
have influence, walking towards a collective care that we recognize important in the logic
of free, egalitarian and anarchic organizations that we defend for our political
organization and the whole of the society.

We believe that at any moment in life, a human being can develop important transformations
of his / her doing and we expect Daniel to perform an exercise in authentic self-criticism
and personal rectification, de-building the machismo we have identified in his daily
practices.

As anarchists and feminists, We are in constant struggle against the injustices of the
world and this implies recognizing how these violence reproduce within our own
organization and spaces of influence, by confronting and undertaking collective actions
that allow us to construct from here and now a way to a more just society And more free.

Over 100 people gathered outside Gianna Care, the rogue ‘pregnancy counselling' clinic on
Dorset Street, to express their anger and disgust after their bogus service was exposed by
a journalist, who went undercover as a pregnant woman seeking advice for her crisis
pregnancy. ---- The journalists video ( https://youtu.be/LUVvqWfdRbU ) was released to the
public, who could hear for themselves all sorts of nonsense, such as the claim that
abortion led to the development of breast cancer, that women could have difficulty bonding
with a child in the future after an abortion and ridiculous stories of women having all of
their reproductive organs removed during the procedure. ---- It sounds rather laughable,
but is not that surprising considering the horrific violation of women's reproductive
rights embedded in Irish law. This manifests in the absence of choice and support to
vulnerable women who seek termination of their pregnancies.

A number of speakers from Abortion Rights Campaign, Parents for Choice and political
parties expressed their outrage and frustration with the current situation, where the 8th
Amendment in the Irish Constitution gives to the foetus equal rights to the woman carrying
the pregnancy, stripping her of her right to bodily integrity.

Therefore, if a woman in crisis wants to terminate she must go abroad to the UK for the
medical procedure.

The necessity for the regulation of the services providing support and information in
cases of crisis pregnancies was emphasised by the speakers, as well as the need to remove
the dogmatic and damaging lies from the narrative surrounding abortion, imposed by
religious institutions.

Ahead of the picket the organisers, Real-Productive Health, said;
"Anti-choice ‘counsellors' who tell their clients that women who have had abortions are
more prone to breast cancer or are in danger of engaging in child-abuse are beneath contempt.
It reveals the depths to which they will go in trying to fool women in crisis and the
public generally, in order to deny women the right to control their own bodies. They are
not pro-life, they are pro-lies.
"We challenge the anti-choice campaigners to denounce this service, and also to admit
whatever connections may exist between them and fraudsters who peddle contemptible lies.
This situation has arisen because women are denied the right to abortion services in
Ireland. The Irish state continues to bury its head in the sand, all the while women are
lied to, denied accurate information and denied access to safe and legal services in their
own country. Ultimately, people who are pregnant are denied autonomy of their own body on
the Island of Ireland (both North and South).
"Politicians must call a referendum to REPEAL THE EIGHTH AMMENDMENT and stop exporting the
problem to England.
"Real-Productive Health calls on the women of Ireland and their pro-choice allies to stand
up to these anti-choice bullies. We demand that they stop lying in order to deny Women the
right to make choices about our own bodies, our futures and our lives."

The chants were loud and strong. The sense of solidarity was present. "Not the church, not
the state, women must decide their fate!".

Precariousness and corruption in Spain ---- The government and the media continue to
insist on the country's progressive economic recovery. However, the unemployment rate
exceeds the more than four million people, being black labor, labor precariousness, income
of insertion of the autonomous communities (RMI in the Community of Madrid), and family
savings and pensions Greater, the supports that workers have in Spain to deal with the
difficult situation in this country. Social services in Madrid are collapsed and social
investments are becoming smaller. More and more money is destined to the outsourcing of
services, with some direct consequences the precarization of social services, worse
service, ---- Child poverty in Spain has increased fivefold during the crisis. Between
2008 and 2015, the number of children in severe poverty has increased to more than
400,000. The precariousness and destruction of the jobs have led to the enormous
impoverishment of the working families. This results in lack of access to resources of
minors, poor diet and serious health consequences.

Every day, family evictions continue to be carried out in Spain that can not afford
abusive mortgages. Hundreds of thousands of evictions have been made since the crisis
began, while spending on public housing by the state has been reduced to 50%. However,
hundreds of thousands of homes are empty. Up to 30% of empty homes in Europe are found
only in Spain. To such an extent it has arrived that, sadly, one of the first cause of
death in Spain is suicide.

Spain is one of the countries with the greatest inequality within the European Union,
ranging from the second to the fifth position. This gap, far from diminishing, has
increased disproportionately as a result of the crisis, polarizing society. More than 30%
of the Spanish population is at risk of extreme poverty due to low wages, unemployment and
job insecurity. On the contrary, 1% of the Spanish population concentrates more wealth
than the 70% more impoverished. Politicians play their role in promoting policies that
reinforce and protect the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few.

It has been more than proven, that the political representatives are not very interested
in the social situation. Moreover, their objective in the end is none other than the
living of state institutions. The senator of the PP Eugenio Gonzálvez expressed clearly:
"that the assholes work". The assholes that we have to pay him and the businessmen their
salaries, their vices and their standard of living. Of course, this gentleman is not going
to resign from his position.

On February 23, the black card statement was issued . In the same, representatives of the
PP, PSOE, IU, CC. OO. And UGT, counselors at Caja Madrid, after spending hundreds of
thousands of euros of public money on "representation" expenses for years, are condemned
to derisory penalties for misappropriation. Most likely none of them will step into jail,
either because of the low conviction or because of the money.

The plot of the Punic, is another of the cases more sounded and with more media
repercussion in Spain. In the same have been stopped and processed dozens of members of
the PP, the PSOE and entrepreneurs for corruption, payments of illegal commissions and
money laundering through a corporate structure. This case has splashed deeply to the dome
of the PP of Madrid. The same ones that soon fill the mouth of democracy and freedom, and
imprison those who fight injustices.

The war in the world

The capitalist economic system does not only wreak havoc in Spain. Various wars shake the
world today. Some more media, some less. Most with justifications such as the defense of
peace and the promotion of democracy. However, behind these conflicts caused by EE. The
United States, Russia, China, Iran, the EU in general or Britain and France in particular,
dominate the economic interests of large multinationals and the geopolitical interests of
States, which revolve around the construction of large infrastructures, Control of gas,
oil, reserves of minerals and other natural resources, etc.

Behind every weapon, every missile, every bomb, every fighter plane and every army there
are businessmen who profit from the business of death and suffering. An example in Spain
we have in the former defense minister Pedro de Morenés and Álvarez de Eulate , linked to
the high Spanish nobility and businessman of the armament industry.

Spain is one of the leading arms suppliers in the world in the last 50 years. The excuse
is defense. However, among its clients are several countries that are involved in
conflicts against other countries or in internal conflicts. Some of them are the United
Kingdom, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Libya or Venezuela.

On the other side we have hundreds or perhaps thousands of civilian casualties who die
every day because of the armed conflicts that shake the world. Millions of workers who
have to get by day to day to die, in order to support their families.

There are reasons to organize. Towards the indefinite general strike

Both within the borders of the Western world and outside, the workers have to suffer the
miseries to which we are condemned by businessmen and politicians. Inside we have to
suffer the relocation of factories, the destruction of jobs and the continued fear of
unemployment, as well as the frustration of never being able to reach the standard of
living that we are trying to sell as the ideal of any rich and developed country . All
with the sole aim of exploiting us, making the most of our work with minimum wage (and if
you save Social Security, much better), and play everything in the bag.

Outside the West, the business of war and the imperialist interests of multinationals and
states keep millions in poverty on the five continents, suffering hunger and endless wars
that never cease.

The relocation of European industry is another maneuver of the employers to save costs in
manufacturing and production, having thousands of workers and children in subhuman
conditions and semi-slavery. This is how his fortune Amancio Ortega, founder of Inditex
and applauded in Spain as an exemplary entrepreneur. It is organized by politicians who
create corruption plots to enrich themselves and by businessmen who finance political
parties to promote policies that defend their class interests against workers.

Faced with this situation, it is necessary for the workers to organize to put on the table
the most effective tool with which we have both local and international level, the general
strike indefinite. To stop the onslaughts of neoliberalism both in Spain and against the
wars that devastate the peoples of the world by the business of a few businessmen and
politicians.

Far from the pacts unions, which are part of the neoliberal machinery, we have the
alternative of creating and fostering networks, groups and unions that operate
horizontally, assembly and solidarity, which are the best tool to block the neoliberal
assault, both In the work environment as in the social environment, and to defend and
promote our interests as workers.
