Wellsville man accused of luring a child for sex


A month-long investigation by the New York State Police at Bath has resulted in Child Pornography related charges against a Wellsville man.  Peter L. Shoughrue, age 43, of 262 West State Street in Wellsville, allegedly exchanged nude photographs with a person less than 16 years of age, with alleged intent to induce and/or lure the victim to engage in oral sexual conduct with him.  State Police Investigator Tom Khork said that in addition, it is alleged that Shoughrue traveled to a location in the Town of Avoca, with intent to engage the victim in oral sexual conduct.  Shoughrue was charged with Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors, 1st degree (class D felony); Attempted Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance (class D felony); Attempted Luring a Child (class A misdemeanor); Attempted Criminal Sexual Act, 3rd degree (class A misdemeanor); and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (class A misdemeanor).  Shoughrue was arraigned before Town of Avoca Justice Pat McMahon, and remanded to the Steuben Co. Jail in lieu of $20,000.00 cash bail, or $40,000.00 property bond.  He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Avoca Court on April 12 at 11:00 a.m.
